In 1986, Will Byers made a painting to give to his best friend, Mike Wheeler. Will intended to give the painting to Mike when he arrived in California for spring break, but stopped himself from showing him.[1] However, Will later showed the painting to Mike as a way to lift spirits when he began losing hope with himself as they searched for the Nina Project. The painting depicts the Party's player characters fighting a dragon, with Mike’s character leading the charge, wielding a heart-adorned shield.[2]

- Will's painting does not include Eleven or Max, who are not known to have taken part in Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, despite being Party members.
- Many fans theorize the red dragon in the painting as "Borys", a Dungeons & Dragons creature more powerful than Vecna. It is theorized to be a new villain in Season 5.
