Virginia Creel, portrayed by Tyner Rushing, was a recurring character in the fourth season of Stranger Things. She was the wife of Victor Creel and the mother of Alice Creel and Henry Creel.
History[]
At some point in March of 1959, Virginia, along with her husband, Victor and their two children, Alice and Henry, moved into a house in Hawkins. They had recently acquired a "small fortune" after Virginia's great-uncle had passed, and decided a fresh start would be just what they needed.[4]
Strange happenings began occurring merely after one month of staying in this new house. At the start, it was finding dead, mutilated bodies of various animals. The death of these animals was labelled as a wildcat attack by the police chief, but the Creel family erred on disbelief. Virginia's husband, Victor, believed it was the doing of a demon. This soon manifested into much more than dead animals, when Virginia and her daughter, Alice, began having nightmare-like hallucinations. For Virginia, her hallucinations manifested whilst awake, and were shown in the form of flocks of spiders invading the household in various ways. One day she went to run a bath, only to find hundreds of spiders crawling out of the drain. Upon seeing this she ran to get Victor, who went to look at the bath. He saw nothing but the water running.[4]
Virginia's husband, Victor, began having these hallucinations soon after as well. Whilst he pinned their cause down to the fault of a demon, she had been growing suspicious of their son, Henry.[4][3] According to a later account from Henry himself, Virginia Creel "somehow knew" that he was the culprit, and had started to despise him for it. Virginia wanted to send her son to Dr. Martin Brenner for treatment, but Henry found out about it before she could follow through with it.[3]
One night at the dinner table, the radio began experiencing interference. Victor got up to take a look at it when the lights began to flicker. Virginia was then pulled into the air, where her limbs were broken and contorted grossly, her jaw broken, and her eyes seemingly burst or gouged out. She fell to the table, dead.[4]
Personality[]
Virginia came across as kind, gentle, and loving. She loved gardening and caring for her children. Virginia is also shown to be a very intelligent woman as she was able to figure out that her son, Henry was behind the hauntings in her new house, unlike her husband who was unable to notice or realize it himself. Upon discovering her son's actions, powers, and bloodthirsty nature, Virginia decided to send him to Dr. Martin Brenner for treatment, but while it was debatable if she did it out of concern for Henry or in his words, she despised him, her decision to send her son for treatment ultimately led her to be killed by him.
