Tammy Thompson, portrayed by Julia Reilly, is a minor character in the fourth season of Stranger Things. She was mentioned in the third season and also appeared in Stranger Things: Rebel Robin and Rebel Robin: Surviving Hawkins.
History[]
Tammy was classmates with Robin Buckley since they were kids. During fourth grade, Tammy used to spend every rainy day rescuing earth worms from the blacktop, throwing them back into the dirt. She was known to constantly sing before class began. On September 6, 1983, Tammy attended the first day of history class with Robin at Hawkins High School. She was singing Kiss On My List by Hall & Oates. When Robin noticed her, she seemed to develop an attraction to Tammy right then and there, even though she'd known her before. This led to Robin almost making a fool out of herself in front of Miss Click, the history teacher. Steve Harrington later came in late and proceeded to sit right next to her, causing Tammy to blush.[1]
Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley shared some of their memories about her during their discussion in the bathroom stalls at Starcourt Mall. Tammy was known to have dreams of becoming a singer. She seemingly moved from Hawkins to Nashville in order to achieve this dream, which she eventually did, despite being an awful singer. The following year, Tammy made an appearance at the Hawkins High School prep rally, where she sang the National Anthem before the game began. Steve and Robin exchanged hushed comments on her singing, and Robin ended up agreeing that she did sound like a muppet.

Robin once noticed that Tammy would call out her friends when they would get too catty.
She stood up in one instance for Sheena Rollins when Sheena got bullied in the lunch line for taking too long. She gave Sheena a pep talk and her bowl of pudding while also punching the one who was bullying her at the lunch line.
