• The back of the book's dust jacket has Will's drawing of the Mind Flayer on it.
• The book comes with a mock sticker on the front stating the book was purchased from Melvald's General Store, the store where Joyce Byers works. The sticker also states the book's condition as "Fair".
• The book imagines that the Party are actually D&D characters who the actors are playing, as if Stranger Things is one long campaign. Mike, played by Finn Wolfhard, would be a Cleric, while Mike's D&D character in the show is a Paladin. Dustin, played by Gaten Matarazzo, is a Thief, while Dustin's D&D character in the show is a Bard. Will, played by Noah Schnapp, would be a Magic-User, while Will's D&D character in the show is a Cleric. Lucas, played by Caleb McLaughlin, would be a Fighter, while Lucas' D&D character in the show is a Ranger.
• The images used for each character's page, if they were featured in season 2, are unfiltered and uncropped versions of their promotional character posters, without the red tint and heavy zoom in.
• The book has several Morse Code messages scattered throughout its pages which can be deciphered with the Morse Code disc included with the book. This turned out to be a teaser for season 3, being the Russian transmission. The deciphered messages are:
