  • The back of the book's dust jacket has Will's drawing of the Mind Flayer on it.
  • The book comes with a mock sticker on the front stating the book was purchased from Melvald's General Store, the store where Joyce Byers works. The sticker also states the book's condition as "Fair".
  • The book states Mike is a Cleric when in the series he stated he was a Paladin. A similar error occurs with Dustin, with the book stating he is a Thief though he was stated to be a Bard.
  • The book has several Morse Code messages scattered throughout its pages which can be deciphered with the Morse Code disc included with the book. The deciphered messages are:
    • Page 22: The week is long
    • Page 62: The silver cat feeds
    • Page 79: When blue and yellow meet
    • Page 80: In the west
    • Page 172: A trip to China sounds nice
