Stranger Things: The Many Ghosts of Dr. Brenner is an four-issue comic book miniseries set within the Stranger Things universe, prior to the events of the first season. The miniseries was set to be released on January 11, 2023 but was later postponed by Dark Horse, apparently indefinitely.
Synopsis[]
The year is 1968. Dr. Martin Brenner, a disgraced American scientist, returns to the abandoned lab where he and his colleagues collected research for top-secret government projects. But Brenner’s unfinished business in his old lab isn’t the only thing haunting him: a ghostly face from his past seems to be following his every step.
History[]
The series was announced by Dark Horse Comics on October 18, 2022, with the release date of the first issue set for January 11, 2023.[1]
However, for unknown reasons, Dark Horse postponed the series before its release, removing their initial announcement post and canceling comic retailers' orders. According to the pop culture blog site, Bleeding Cool, Dark Horse also removed the second and third issues from the February and March release listings. Additionally, Bleeding Cool reports that Dark Horse likely intends to resolicit the series at a later date, rather than canceling it altogether.[2]

The delay and possible cancellation suggests there may have been a story conflict between what the miniseries and the fourth season (and Stranger Things: The First Shadow) explore, which also delve into Dr. Brenner's backstory and motivations.
