Sam Mayfield is a character who appeared in the book Runaway Max and was mentioned in Stranger Things. He is the ex-husband of Susan Hargrove and the biological father of Max Mayfield. He lives in California.
History[]
At some point, he was known to have married Susan, who bore them a daughter named Max. Eventually, Susan and Sam separated, with Sam staying in California while Susan moved to Hawkins, Indiana with Max.
On March 1986, Max wrote several letters to be given to her loved ones and acquaintances before her possible death. One of them was meant to be given to Sam.[1]

Max Mayfield – Daughter. She is the daughter of Sam Mayfield. She moved to Hawkins along with her mother Susan Hargrove in 1984 after Sam and Susan got divorced.
