What's the decision for how this wiki treats upcoming material? Say a character seemingly "dies" in one season, but the preview for the next season shows them alive and well along with press announcements from the cast and crew and such that confirm that yes, they are alive and isn't just a tricky dream sequence or flashback. Do you wait for the new season to come out before updating with that info, or is the preview and press release enough to allow quick changes to update the page even before the new material is officially released in full?
Well, the way it worked with Eleven was that I initially planned to keep her status as "unknown" until the season came out, even if it was shown that Millie had returned in the table read photo. The reason being that more casual fans who don't keep up with the news wouldn't know, so viewing her status as alive would've been a huge spoiler for them. However, that changed as soon as the first teaser for the second season showed that she was indeed alive.
So, I suppose the way it will work from now on is something similar. A character's status will remain "unknown" unless they are explicitly stated to be alive/dead by someone of high authority in the crew (the Duffers, Shawn Levy), or if a teaser shows that they are alive and there is no debate that it's a flashback or dream.
Greetings, hope everything is fine and well. Apology for making this veery brief cause my work-schedule is so tight now that I barely can visit fandom. Yeah, I always knew that it was just a matter of when an announcement will be made and I was right. It's also fascinating that Season 4 is officially going to explore regions outside Hawkins. Just imagine the amount of plot-lines and adventures that could also be possible now. True that the release is still years away but still a confirmation like this is really great to hear. I hope u r managing well with the community here. I don't know when I will come back working here or if I'll be able to, but should u need anything, don't hesitate to ask or share your thoughts.
With best wishes,
Yeah, it's great to finally have confirmation! Sure, the show's renewal was inevitable, but it's still surprising that it had taken this long. And now the wait can officially begin. It'll be long, but that's something we're used to by now. The teaser's indication that the season will focus mainly outside of Hawkins is indeed interesting. A part of me is a little sad, since the show has centered around the town for a majority of its run, but another part of me sees this change as exciting, and will hopefully bring some interesting changes.
Overall, things have been fine. Though, with some things coming up on my end, I haven't been able to update some of the pages as fast as I'd like, but I'm working on it. Thanks, and as always, good luck with everything.
Hello, thanks for filling me in. I had already seen the video, however, because the outfits weren't listed anywhere as part of the DLC, I thought they'd either be a later addition, or perhaps they were scrapped. However, after looking it up on the official wiki, it appears they will be included as items that can be purchased through the in-game store.
So, looks like I was mistaken. I'll re-add the outfit info. Thanks again!
Hello ZeroZeroEight, I wanted to give you some updates from Fandom! First up, we recently introduced a new feature on Fandom! Ever wanted to know what browser your readers are using? Or perhaps where your readers are from? Now you can with our new analytics feature! What I find interesting from your wikis analytics is your most searched term which is "Eleven"! Your top viewed page is also Eleven, so it's a good idea to keep that page updated! You can access analytics on the Special:Analytics page. If you'd like to do some more reading on this feature, we have a great Blog Post and Help page to help you get started with this feature! Feel free to also ask away and share your cool findings in our analytics channel on our Official Fandom/Gamepedia Discord Server! You can also let me know if you have any questions.
We also recently introduced a new editor rewards program! This program has given out everything from free movie tickets, event passes, Fandom swag and more! If you'd like to find out more information about this awesome program, or ask questions about the editor rewards program, I recommend you check out this blog post!
Let me know if I can answer any questions you may have on either of these great announcements!
Hi i'm knew to the stranger things wiki and I just think that eleven should be renamed as Jane Hopper because eleven is just a test subject number. If Eleven is what she is commonly referred to then it can always be called Jane "Eleven" Hopper. Thank you for reading this and if you'd like to know my wiki name for other wikis like Far Cry or Fallout wiki then it is ORI2310. Thank you for your patience and sorry for editing the "Eleven" page without asking you.
I believe the page should be called Eleven but her full name be listed as Jane "Eleven" Hopper. If the page was called Jane it would be incredibly vague and much less people would know it's about Eleven. Eleven is the common name for the character by the fans and most of the other characters as well. Nobody's actually called her Jane with the exception of Becky, Kali, and maybe Hopper a couple times.
Another option is that we could name the page "El Hopper", since El is what everyone refers to her as in the third season, including herself. It would also kind of be like how Mike's page is named "Mike Wheeler" and not "Michael Wheeler, and Max's is "Max Mayfield" not "Maxine Mayfield", etc.
Hi I am sorry to bother you but i was wondering If I can edit some of the main charcaters pages but whenever I try to it says that we are blocked so we can't edit it.So how w would I go about trying to edit the wiki Pages. the Infobox just seems to not appear and the edit doesn't show up. Is it a problem or a gitch in the wiki?
If you have just recently created your account, you'll have to wait at least a few days before you can edit the pages due to them being protected. The answer to the infobox question can be found here. I have been meaning to fill out the infoboxes so that they look normal for editors, however I haven't yet had the chance to do so.
Sorry to bother you but whenever I edit pages, on the edit screen infoboxes just collapse and when I try to edit them, everything is blank. I've tested this theory on several pages and all have the same result. I'm essentially unable to change infoboxes. Is this a glitch?
(Images are below so you can see what the problem is)
Don't worry! This is normal. Basically, the infoboxes for a majority of the main characters have gone into "protection mode". It's something that we do to combat vandalism, since they're often the first thing vandals go after. Because the season has been out for a while now, and because we saw that no further edits needed to be made, we decided to go ahead and put them into protection mode. (Though, perhaps it would be best to fill the templates in, anyway, if only for appearances sake. I'll do that later when I have more time.)
Forgive me being so forward, but you really SHOULD closely examine the discussion post, “It’s Game Night At The Cabin!” I would greatly care for your thoughts, and would have you know that we have been purposefully presented with at least three tools rather like the ITU Morse code translator with (Stranger Things: Worlds Turned Upside Down). I would love to have dialogue, and the ability to share. I hold hope of your reply.
Greetings. Hope everything's going well for you. It's been some time since I've been active around here. Looks like time flies like a fly. A year and a half ago, I made my first contributions to wikis in this fandom and now, it feels as if it was actually a few months. As implied by me few weeks back, 31th August may be my last working day before I've to undergo a series of exams/trainings/interviews/jobs and whatever personal life comes with. Truth be told, I don't know, but there is a very big chance that I'll get fully back to working on the fandom as soon as November.
Due to personal work schedules, it may sound disappointing but other than updating the Timeline and a few episode pages of Season 3, I actually did next to nothing this past three months, notwithstanding a few tweaks here and there. I'd so many plans to carry out for these two-three months and still, barely made a scratch, considering last year. Life truly is complex!
Just to remind you, I previously did make some updates to the major character infobox templates and I think, we should still keep them (as back-up). I believe some users may attempt to change the biological informations of the characters based on their opinions, instead of how they are meant to be depicted in the story.
Hopefully, I'll be back as soon as possible and be able to help you keeping the wiki up-to-date, with all the info regarding Season 3, the comics, the novels- yet unwritten. Frankly, this message is sounding a bit (too farewell-ish). And I know that there is a heavy burden you're carrying alone for all these years, since beside a few other users and me, you are the only admin who's been actively working on this wiki. I'll still be available tomorrow though and may make a few edits here and there whenever opportunity permits during my hiatus. And optimistically, by the time I come back, maybe we will hear about Season 4's renewal too.
Thanks for letting me know and I completely understand. And you shouldn't sell yourself short, your contributions have been a tremendous help! It'll be difficult, but I'll get through it, so don't worry about me. Good luck on everything and as always, I'll be here awaiting your return.
I also agree about the infoboxes. I was actually thinking about switching them back since they don't really need to be edited further, anyway.
