Greetings. Hope you are doing okay. Just wanted to inform some of my thoughts.
As three of the four comic issues have already been released with the final one presumed to release at the end of this year or in January, I think it is time to discuss whether we should add info from the Comic Issues to the character and location pages.
I know that the TV series gets more priority, but there are some elements which have received more clarification in the issues too- like how Lonnie Byers inadvertently blocks the portal by sealing the Byers house, or that Will found Henry in the Upside Down of Mirkwood or even how he indirectly helped Nancy escape the Upside Down. Some of the info can easily be added to the Trivia/Notes section like- Will finding Barb's spectacles or such. The campaign section of D&D page may also need a small revision, as we get some info about the campaigns from Will's perspective. But since you may have not read the issues yet, I am waiting for your decision.
By the way, we may be getting more info about Season 3 now that the marketing has just begun with the release of the teaser mentioning the titles. However, we may still get some changes to the final titles though they may be minor compared to the previous entry, since the season is currently in post-production. (Besides, the directors of the last two episodes are the Duffer brothers themselves, according to Instagram posts from Tim Ives and the casts, though I know we should just wait up for official info) In any case, I'm there to help if you need any assistance.
I agree that the events from the comics should be added to the pages, though how that will be done exactly is gonna be tricky. One of the reasons I split some of the characters' histories to separate pages was so we could add the comics' events there, but now I'm starting to have my doubts if that would be the right way to go. If you have any ideas, please let me know. Adding some of the info to the Trivia sections could work, though we would have to be selective about what info to add there.
Yep, I can't wait! Especially since we may finally get an exact release date soon, as hinted by Shawn Levy. We can finally add the countdown to the front page. Yeah, the titles changing is always a possibility. But considering these titles were released after filming was completed, as opposed to the S2 episode titles being revealed even before they had finished writing the season, I wouldn't be surprised if these are a bit more permanent.
If something has been revealed on one of the cast members' social media accounts, then usually it is considered officially revealed and can be added. Though, I'd have to agree that in this case, it would be best to wait for an official announcement.
Yeah, you're probably right about the delicate situation regarding how to add both the comics' events and the TV show's ones without messing up the page format/layout. One possible solution may simply be adding the info from the comics and providing a reference to the Issues. Or we could just add a notice template for the history sections of 1983, (primarily for Will's and the Demogorgon's page as well as Mirkwood & Upside Down) mentioning that the section contains the narrative of both the series and the comics, after adding the relevant info from the comics. But I know it kind of sounds peculair and that's just my idea.
Btw, I was thinking maybe it would be a good idea to add some behind the scenes info regarding character development, taking help from the official companion book for the main characters-Will, Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Hopper, similar to how Eleven's one was added.
Nevertheless, if any changes or modifications are needed, plz do mention so that I can be of assistance.
Hello! I'm afraid the image that's currently on the Hawkins page is the only version I have, and unfortunately I don't know where a high res version can be found at the moment. I think your best bet would be to ask around on the internet and see if someone can scan a better quality version for you. Sorry I couldn't be of more help and good luck with your game!
Hello there. Just got a day free so let me get straight to the point. The Stranger Things page has got a bit jarring to read due to its size and may get even bigger when Season 3 is released. So, for the time being, I made some changes, mostly to the Plot Summary section. But if you have a better idea, kindly share them too.
Hello, apologies for the extremely delayed reply. Thank you for bringing this up. I agree that the ST page was indeed getting too long and messy. Your changes really help make the article look neater and easier to read. However, since we still have 2-3 more seasons to go, we may have to make further changes, maybe summarizing the seasons so they aren't as long. But, that's a problem we won't have to face for a long time, so we don't have to do anything more right now.
Hi, there. Sorry for being so infrequent to the fandom. Just wanted to say my opinion about the stages for the Demogorgon (species). I thought that Stranger Things Worlds Turned Upside Down made it clear that the life cycle for the species began from the Pollywog stage.
Moreover, from previous interviews, Paul Graff implied that the Duffer Brothers left out the connection between the slug of the first season and the Demogorgon and they wanted to have five stages for the species, starting with the Pollywog stage.
So, it would feel weird to mention it to have six stages, when the official info differs from it. I think we can revert it back to five stages and create a speculation section for the slug-like creature.
I know, and believe me, I thought this issue had been resolved. However, toward the end of the book, there is a small paragraph that states that the slug Will coughed up was indeed a larval Demogorgon:
Why it wasn't included on the Monster Morphology page, I have no idea. Maybe because it was also mainly about Dart?
We also have to take the episodes into account, since what happens in them takes precedence over everything else. And in the episode, it's heavily implied the slug is connected to the Demogorgons. This is the reason I didn't change the page until that preview page of the companion book was released.
So for now, I think we should follow the implications of the episode and what the book says, and if we ever get a more concrete answer, we'll follow it. But I will admit, this is definitely frustrating. Just when we thought we finally had a clear answer, we're right back to where we started.
Alright. Then again, I think the use of "turns out to be a larval form of a Demogorgon" sounds as if it was an assumption made by the characters and not a real larval stage. Nonetheless, we can keep it the way it is now.
If it was an assumption made by the characters then that's even more reason to keep it. Since it would be weird for them to deliberately show the characters assume the slug is a Demo-larva when it's not. It's kind of like how the characters assumed the Demodogs are baby Demogorgons.
Hello, the show has an ensemble cast, so there are several main protagonists, not just one. So, pretty much all the major characters: Hopper, Joyce, Nancy, Jonathan, Steve, Mike, Eleven, Will, Lucas, Dustin, and Max.
Hey there admin,
Its been more than 2 months since the GDM assignment STW started and I am gpad to say that the time is about over. So far i haven't been able to find a permanent mod candidate and so i was planning on assuming the title of permanent mod and help you till i find someone good enough. If you agree then ket me know, i will put the official work in order abd if you want then we can extend the timeline of GDM but it will be limited at some point.
Ok that sounds great.
You would have to promote me to discussion moderator via user rights management. Meanwhile I'll put the official work in order.
I have just one little condition. If ever in future any decision is being made regarding the Dboard, I would like to be informed before anything happens, be it a new mod's appointment or something else. I would really appreciate it because I prefer to know what is happening or will happen to the place I'm working at.
Thanks a lot.
Hi, I apologize for my inactivity this past week primarily due to personal reasons. I am also extremely disappointed to regretfully inform you that I'll be unable for the whole of November, because of my trip to Canada. I hope I'm not burdening you with the task of the wiki works alone, though. And hopefully, things are going good for you too.
Hello! Glad to know you're ok, though I admit I was starting to get worried. Don't worry about it, I understand. Besides, things have been rather slow lately and I won't be completely alone, so I'll be fine. Good luck!
HI, How are you. I hope you've been doing well. Its great the first issue is now released. I should've asked whether you've seen it before I made my edits. Nevertheless, thanks for revising the grammatical mistakes of the plot of the first issue. I think we could also add some information of the campaign in the comic section of the D&D page too as well as update the history page of Will and the others. What do you think?
Hello, I'm fine. You're welcome! To be honest, I haven't even gotten it yet and I'm not sure when I'll be able to. But I don't mind the spoilers, and it looks like nothing major has happened yet, considering it's only the first issue. I agree that pages should be updated to include the events of the comic.
Hi, there. So, do you think it would be good to add character overviews under the player's character, Will the Wise and Dungeon Master in the D&D page? I know it's very trivial info but still I thought it shouldn't go unmentioned. Anyway, I previously added Terry Ives in the Season 3 Characters category because the actress who portrayed her was seen on set during filming Season 3 on Sep 27.
Do you mean give descriptions of the characters similar to how there are descriptions for the Demogorgon and Mind Flayer? I suppose so, though I'm afraid the page's formatting may make that a bit difficult. Could you tell me more about what you have in mind?
The Terry thing is a bit complicated. You know how we don't allow leaks on the wiki? Well, everything about Millie filming the other day was technically a leak. However, I decided to make an exception, since Millie acknowledged it and the filming location was so unusual. To compromise, I decided to just include the info about Millie, and leave the info about Aimee Mullins (Terry) out of the article, since that could have potentially been a HUGE spoiler that could have revealed an important plot point.
Also, there has been some debate over whether that was actually Aimee Mullins or not. Some people have been saying it's actually Sarah Hindsgaul, who is a hairstylist on the show. I've compared the set pictures to pictures of both of them, and honestly I can't tell. So, better to be safe than sorry. This is also a prime example of why leaks can't always be trusted.
One more thing, since we're sort of on the subject. I've been thinking about reworking the "no leaks" rule to allow info about filming and filming locations. However, the actual leaked images and any information that could potentially spoil any plot points will still not be allowed.
Oh, my bad, sorry. I was so distracted these past few days that I'd mistakenly added leaked details about filming and I apologize that. You're right about Aimee Mullins's ambiguity too. In any case, yeah, I think it would be quite acceptable to allow info about filming and filming locations, provided that no images or plots unofficially leaked be added. And about the D&D page, I've made a few edits. What do you think about them?
Yes, I thought too. I separated the descriptions to a sub-section "Character Overview" so that the "Player Characters" section contained only the names of the show's characters and their player characters (like how it was before). I held off from writing about other characters because those didn't get much highlights in both the show or the first issue. But I would like your opinion on this too.
Yep, looks good. I was thinking maybe we could add information about the other characters, and maybe rename the section to "Character Classes". I understand the other characters haven't been focused on that much, as you've said, but it could still be interesting. What do you think?
