Hello, how are you? Hope you're doing okay. My lengthy hiatus is over today, but I'll still take this week as part of my vacation mostly due to a slight acid burning on my face, though nothing too serious.
Although I did add some things here and there, I really didn't check out the two promos/clips of Season 3 released a short while ago. The Coca-cola's promo had me delighted with what appears to be the kids (who aren't kids anymore) having a summer time full of merriment and love. The power outage at the Starcourt Mall at the end of the promo could be a direct result of the electric discharge seen at the full length trailer, but that's just my theory. Also, judging by it, we can assume why Will seemed unhappy at the first trailer. Unlike Dustin & Steve, Mike & Eleven, Max & Lucas, Jonathan & Nancy and possibly Hopper & Joyce, Will is quite seemingly alone. Hope he gets his deserved moments of enjoyment in the season. Anymore, I'm a bit skeptical about the Hawkins Swimming Pool. I think it's directed somewhat more for the adult audiences but hopefully I'm wrong.
Nevertheless, do you think "New Coke" should get a mentioning at the Influences and references page? Or should it be mentioned at the Marketing section of Season 3? Or maybe both?
Moreover, I'm slightly concerned about how we could handle the canonical novel Darkness on the Edge of Town. I was thinking of creating another Timeline page that combines all the timelines of the novels, comics and TV series, while keeping the Timeline of the TV series separate. But maybe that's not a good idea. Perhaps we could place the events of the official novels and comics under a separate section of the Timeline? And the same goes for the History page, especially of Hopper. Because most of the fans/audiences of the TV series will be unaware of the events that transpired in the novels/comics. Detailing some info without warning them would be deemed both confusing as well as a spoiler to them. I don't know, mayhaps you happen to have an idea?
Hello, glad to see you back! Oh wow, I hope you're doing ok. I know you said it's not serious, but it's hard not to get worried about something like that.
Yeah, the sudden influx of content completely took me by surprise. I share the same sentiments about the coco-cola ad, it's nice to see the characters have a moment of peace, at least before things start to get strange. I also agree with you about Will. The trailer for the upcoming game also hints at this. Looks like when they said they were gonna give Will a break, they just meant the supernatural monsters. To be honest, I wasn't exactly thrilled by what I saw in the pool clip. And I've seen a lot of people who feel the same way. I understand what they're trying to do, but still... Hopefully, it won't play that big a part in the season.
Yeah, I suppose so though I don't know where it would go, unless we make a new section dedicated to advertisements and such. It can also be mentioned in the marketing for the season.
I've been thinking this over a lot and come up a few ideas: 1. We add the events from the novels/comics and we mark them (like with an image or symbol next to the event) to let people know that they come from sources other than the main series or 2. We simply keep the timeline centered on the events of the tv series. However, your idea to create a seperate timeline is interesting. Regarding the characters, perhaps we could create a section detailing their appearances in other media?
Don't worry about it, haha.
I would like to take this opportunity to apologize, as I know I haven't been as active on this wiki as much, since I've been preoccupied with another wiki and also some personal things. But I just want to let you know I haven't abandoned this wiki, and I have been thinking of some ideas and such. But I'll talk about them later since this is already so long.
Yeah, you're absolutely right. But regarding the controversial swimming pool, I think it may play an important role, since the third episode directly refers to the Lifeguard.
Okay, I'll see to that.
I'm really confused over choosing one. Option 2 would be wiser but so is creating a separate timeline page.
There is absolutely no need to apologize. You've been here for years and you deserve to choose what's best for you.
I've also seen that you chose to change the individual character infoboxes of the main characters into the standard character infoboxes. But wasn't the previous option better? Because this would make the infoboxes much vulnerable to repeated vandalisms, spammings etc, now that Season 3 is just 40 days away. I don't think it's a good choice.
About that, I was referring to the flirting between Karen and Billy. As far as the pool setting itself, I'm actually looking forward to it.
Well, when in doubt, it's usually best to go with the simpler option. Also, if we do decide to create a separate timeline then we'd pretty much be going with both options anyway since the original timeline would just center around the tv series.
Thanks! Sometimes it's good to step away from something for a little while, so by the time you come back to it, you can look at it from a fresh perspective.
Regarding the infoboxes, I changed them back because I noticed that some of the characters' infoboxes weren't showing up on mobile and I assumed it was because of the templates. However, switching them back hasn't resolved the problem so it appears to be a bug of some sort. I'll contact FANDOM staff and hopefully the issue will be resolved soon. Though, to be honest, I was actually planning on switching them back before the season aired anyway since they'd be easier for people to edit. I don't think it's the wisest decision either, but sometimes you just gotta have faith.
Hello ZeroZeroEight, I’m HighJewElfKing and I’m your wiki manager! I’ll be here to assist you with anything I can alongside Antonio. If you ever need anything you can always feel free to contact me on my message wall! :)
Hey, I'm Antonio, and I'm a Community Manager on Fandom's new TV and Movie community team. We're getting ready to test out a new feature and we think Stranger Things Wiki would be a great test wiki for it -Hawkins National Laboratory was another option for testing, but you know, it's closed now hehe- . Would you be interested in hearing more? If so, please add me on Discord so we can talk directly and chat more or we can continue talking in this thread. My Discord ID is: bola#1331. Please let me know. Thanks!
So, we are working on a new product called “Trivia Quizzes”, and we think this wiki can be a great fit! We will have a handful of selected communities testing this new tool, it will allow you to simply create quizzes on your community so you have the ability to express and showcase your deep knowledge to challenge and entertain other wiki fans, and... you can also take the quizzes created by other fans as well on the wiki. Would you (and other admins) be interested? Let me know. Our content team can also help to create the quizzes and let you review if you are too busy to create your own. If I'm right next season will be released next July 4, so it can be a great chance to test it and reach more visitors from a different perspective!
No problem, our content team can create them for your review and approval. Do you want me to send you a copy of the questions once they are drafted so you can review them, or do you want us to directly launch the quiz and give you an update after?
Hey, just some updates: we will release the quiz for consumption only before June 10 to set some examples, meaning everyone can take the quizzes but not create the quizzes, and after that, we will release the alpha version and admins will be able to create quizzes themselves. Please let me know if you have any questions. :)
I have one question, you have previously said that we can take quizzes created by other fan members. I would really appreciate it if creating a trivia quiz was in Admin control because as we can see with polls, users tend to spam them. Could throw some light on it?
Also is it possible to customise the backgrounds and option etc of the trivia quiz?
This is a really good project and we are happy to be a part pf it. Thank you for letting us know.
On a side note, could a timer post be set on ST wiki(like tge one which was set on GoT wiki? We would really appreciate to have one on our wiki
Hi, I just got my copy of the Free Comic Book Day issue with the Stranger Things story entitled "The Game Master". Anyway, I just noticed that it seems like there is no page for it yet. I just pointed it out as I was planning to incorporate some of the revealed info in this wiki, but it would be awkward if I didn't have something to reference it back to.
Greetings again. It's sometime since we last talked. Hope you're doing fine. Just got a few minutes to spare, so I'm going straight to the point. First of all, I express my gratitude for providing the "Admin" rights, which is to me, a great honor. Thanks for having trust on me.
It seems to me that some problem is bothering the rss feed in Fandom, because the "News" page is displaying an rss error. Should we inform the Fandom authority or is there another way to solve the problem?
Moreover, a question that I mentioned in my previous post was whether we should mention the weekly StrangerRewind as part of the promotion of the upcoming season in the marketing section of Season 3?
And the same to you too. Sorry for the delayed response, though. I'm still quite busy but if everything goes well and according to plan, I may be returning to the fandom at the start of the next month.
Anyway, should we make a page for the upcoming Stranger Things Lego "The Upside Down"? I think it would be great considering this is the first official lego set for the series.
I'm so sorry to inconvenience you, as I'm sure you have more important things to do, but I just had a question about the current Admin/mod? A couple weeks ago there was a new mod appointed because ReverbFrost was a bit too agressive/confrontational, and then they were removed because they were too slack with the rules (I agree with your decision BTW, the fandom needs structure of course) but you said that you would make a post about this to clarify who the admin would be. No pressure, of course, but I was just curious about the current status on the condition.
Again, I'm very sorry for the inconvenience, and good luck with the moderator situation! :3
You're not bothering me, don't worry! Originally, I was going to make a separate post basically explaining the whole situation and remind users to follow the guidelines. However, when Reverb made his post, I thought making my post would be unnecessary since it would have pretty much been a repeat of his post, and I felt it would have ignited even more drama.
In regards to the whole admin situation, I actually did appoint a new admin: Imrancat! He's been a great help on the wiki and he truly deserved the position. I don't know how often, but I do know he makes posts to the Discussions board sometimes so keep an eye out for him.
I am not sure which post by me was aggressive or confrontational but in my post I clearly mentioned that I was dealing with some real life issues. And presently I have restored myself to normal.
And yeah, Imrancat is a very deserving candidate.
Hey ZeroZeroEight! I noticed that there are currently no D-mods, would you consider granting me the position? I'm an Administraror for a smaller wiki, and I understand the guidelines of this one. I would love to help out with this Fandom!
While I'm glad you're interested in the position, the wiki does have a Discussions Mod, Reverb frost! It simply doesn't show him as such since I promoted him. It's also not my call to make in this regard. The Discussions Board is Reverb's territory, so I would ask him.
I know it sounds silly but it is for the person's protection, there are exceptions but generally very young people will give out their information to other people. Yes it falls on the parents to say, "Don't tell strangers where you live." But since the internet seems so safe a lot of parents aren't paying attention to what their kid does online.
