"Master of Puppets" is a song by the heavy metal band Metallica. It was released on March 2, 1986, and was featured in the album of the same name. Eddie Munson played the song on his electric guitar to lure the Demobats away from the Upside Down's version of the Creel House.[1]
History[]
1986[]
Eddie and Dustin Henderson are at their trailer trying to lure the Demobats away. Eddie decides to play "Master of Puppets" on his guitar, causing a hoard of Demobats flying away. Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, and Robin Buckley rush to the Creel House as the Demobats fly away. As Eddie plays the song, Max Mayfield tries to run away from Vecna who uses a hallucination of Billy Hargrove pounding on the door as a distraction, and Erica Sinclair running away after finding Jason Carver and Andy in a car, to which Andy starts chasing and beating her. Dustin uses his binoculars to track down the Demobats and informs Eddie how much time he has left. Meanwhile, Max goes through her memories, including her memories with Lucas Sinclair at the Snow Ball. As the song ends, Max is teleported to the Snow Ball after Billy breaks the door.[1]
Lyrics[]
End of passion play, crumbling away
I'm your source of self destruction
Veins that pump with fear, sucking darkest clear
Leading on your deaths' construction
Taste me you will see
More is all you need
You're dedicated to
How I'm killing you
Come crawling faster
Obey your master
Your life burns faster
Obey your master
Master
Master of puppets I'm pulling up your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you just can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master (2x)
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master (2x)
Needlework the way, never you betray
Life of death being clearer
Pain monopoly, ritual misery
Chop your breakfast on a mirror
Taste me you will see
More is all you need
You're dedicated to
How I'm killing you
Come crawling faster
Obey your master
Your life burns faster
Obey your master
Master
Master of puppets I'm pulling up your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you just can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master (2x)
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master (2x)
Master, master, where's the dreams I've been after?
Master, master, you only promised lies
Laughter, laughter, all I hear or see is laughter
Laughter, laughter, laughing at my cries
Hell is worth all that, natural habitat
Just a rhyme without a reason
Never ending maze, drifted on numbered days
Now your life is out of season
I will occupy
I will help you die
I will run through you
Now I rule you too
Come crawling faster
Obey your master
Your life burns faster
Obey your master
Master
Master of puppets I'm pulling up your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you just can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master (2x)
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master (2x)
