In 1982, Jonathan Byers created a mixtape which he gave to his brother, Will. Jonathan would give him another mixtape a year later, following his hospitalisation.

In real life, it would have been impossible for The Smiths to appear on the 1982 mixtape, as their first album wasn't realised until 1984.
