Jeff, portrayed by Trey Best, is a recurring character introduced in the fourth season of Stranger Things. He is a member of the Hellfire Club at Hawkins High School and a member of Eddie Munson's band, Corroded Coffin. He plays electric guitar.
History[]
1986[]
On Friday, March 21, 1986, Jeff was eating lunch with his friends from the Hellfire Club, including Gareth, Eddie Munson, and Doug Teague when fellow club members Mike Wheeler and Dustin Henderson informed Eddie that Lucas Sinclair would not be able to make it to the final game in their Dungeons & Dragons campaign. Mike and Dustin asked to postpone, to which everyone else refused. That night, Mike and Dustin had managed to find a sub; Lucas' sister, Erica Sinclair. During the game, the players declared "to the death!" Once Jeff, Gareth, Mike, and Doug were dead, they began to get scared. Vecna, a significant villain in the game, had 15 hit points left. Dustin and Erica both decided to take the chances even though they were both low, despite Eddie, the Dungeon Master, warning them to not be heroes. Dustin missed but Erica ended up rolling a 20, and the Hellfire Club ended up winning the end of the campaign. Jeff and his friends celebrated.
Two days later, on March 23, Jeff, Gareth and Doug were playing music in one of their garages as part of their band Corroded Coffin. They were approached by basketball players Jason, Andy, Patrick, and Lucas, who demanded to know Eddie's location. After being asked if he knew "these freaks", Lucas replied "they know my sister", and went on to call the Hellfire Club a "club or cult", trying to act cool to blend in with the jocks. Jeff understandably took offense to this, saying "Lucas, what the hell?". Lucas, who was waiting for the right moment to do the right thing (which he later did, leading the jocks to a false location and running away to buy Eddie time), responded "We're just trying to find Eddie, man". Jason ended up getting a clue from Gareth, and the basketball players left the band players.
Personality[]
Jeff is shown to be someone who values loyalty, getting personally hurt when it appeared Lucas Sinclair had turned on the Hellfire Club.
