Hawkins Town Hall was the office of the Mayor of Hawkins. It was located in the downtown area.

History[]

1985[]

On June 30, 1985, protestors in front of city hall made clear their distaste for Mayor Kline and his role in enabling the establishment of Starcourt Mall, depriving smaller shops of business. Police Chief Jim Hopper met with Kline in his office to discuss the protest. Kline asked him to arrest the protesters, while claiming the town would soon forget the plight of the "mom-and-pops" after the Independence Day Fun Fair.

Later, Hopper confronted Kline in his office for conspiring with the Soviet Union and enabling them to covertly construct Starcourt Mall and a secret facility beneath it, while his friend Joyce Byers prevented Kline's secretary Candice from calling the police.

1986[]

A year later, the new Chief of Police, Calvin Powell, publicly released Eddie Munson's name as the primary suspect in a high-profile murder case, and set an open forum at town hall. Jason Carver used the opportunity to espouse his view that the Hellfire Club, Munson's Dungeons & Dragons group, was truly a Satanic cult, and attempted to convince the townspeople to defy police orders and actively assist in hunting down the members of Hellfire. Much of the town agreed with Jason, with the exception of Karen and Ted Wheeler, Sue and Charles Sinclair, and Claudia Henderson, who were worried about their children's safety.
