The Hawkins Police Station is the police station in the city of Hawkins, Indiana and the headquarters of the Hawkins Police Department. A small-scale and modest building, it houses a reception, a common room, and offices.
History
Police Chief Hopper started working at the police station in 1979. He has stated the worst thing to happen during his employment was "when an owl attacked Eleanor Gillespie's head because he thought it was a nest."[1]

Behind the scenes
The location used for the police station was 48 Pray Street in Douglasville, Georgia, where both the exterior and interior scenes were filmed.[2] [3] The address seems to have changed since 2016, and is now listed as 8485 Courthouse Square West. [4]
The police cruisers and uniforms, including the shoulder patches, are heavily influenced by the appearance of the Amity Police Department in the 1975 horror film Jaws, directed by Steven Spielberg.[5]
Circa 2019, google street view shows the building undergoing major renovations, which appear to be changing the appearance of the exterior.
