The Hargrove House, located at 4819 Cherry Lane,[1] was the former residence of Neil Hargrove, Susan Hargrove, Max Mayfield and the late Billy Hargrove.

Background[]
Sometime in 1984, Neil and Susan moved to Hawkins with their children.[2]
1984[]
November 3[]
Lucas went to the Hargrove home to talk to Max about what previously happened to Will and the town of Hawkins. Even though Billy was in the living room working out, he made Max open the door. Max spoke with Lucas outside, but Billy became suspicious concerning who Max was talking with. Max came back inside and told Billy that she had been talking with "talkative" Mormons. Billy looked out, but saw no one.
Lucas, meanwhile, had snuck around the side of the house. Lucas waited at Max's bedroom window until she climbed out and got into the back of his bike. They then rode off to the arcade.[3]
November 4[]
The next day, the Hargrove couple returned home in the evening. When Susan went to check on Max, she was alarmed to find their daughter was not in her bedroom. Max's bedroom window was open. After closing it, she told Neil about Max, which caused him to burst into Billy's bedroom. Neil found Billy getting ready for a date and, after roughing him up, demanded that Billy cancel his date and go look for his sister.[4]
1985[]
June 30[]
Eleven visited Max at the Hargrove house to discuss a disturbing phone call with Mike. Max told El that Mike was a "piece of shit", and that she should ignore him until he comes crawling back. She stated that El needs to give Mike a taste of his own medicine and that she's done it with Lucas hundreds of times. After this conversation, Max and El become friends and leave to go shopping at the mall together.[5]
July 1[]
The next night, while spying on Billy in the Void, El sees him doing something to a girl. After Billy senses El, she gets worried and convinces Max to head over to the Hargrove house to see where Billy is. While there, El and Max search the house and find a bathtub full of ice. Under the sink, El finds Heather's lifeguard equipment and her blood-stained whistle. The girls leave and make their way to the pool.[6]
October 4[]
After the Byers and El moved away, Max returned home and sat on the edge of Billy's bed, mourning his death.[1]
1986[]
By April of 1986, Susan and Max move out of the house after Neil divorced or separated from Susan. Susan and Max moved into a trailer park.[7]

- In "The Battle of Starcourt", Neil, Susan and Max were the only occupants in this residence.[1]
- There is a continuity error in seasons 2 and 3 with the home address:
- In season 2 episode 2, "Trick or Treat, Freak", while trick or treating, Dustin asks Max if she's rich and she states, "No, I live up Old Cherry Road."[8]
- In season 2 episode 6, "The Spy", after Lucas leaves the home, Billy stands outside in suspicion, and we clearly see the numbers read 5280, which is the real-life address in Georgia.[3]
- In the season 3 finale, "The Battle of Starcourt", when Billy is pursuing the kids, Max states, "Your name is Billy. Billy Hargrove. You live on 4819 Cherry Lane."[1]
