Florence, usually referred to as "Flo", portrayed by Susan Shalhoub Larkin, is a recurring character in the first, second, and third seasons of Stranger Things. She is the secretary of the Hawkins Police Station.
History[]
1983[]
On the morning of November 7, Florence sarcastically greeted the Chief of Police Jim Hopper when he arrived late to work. She then proceeded to tell him about Joyce Byers' missing son, but he showed little concern.
After investigating the Byers' backyard shed, Hopper urged Callahan to call Flo to organize a search party.
While the police were searching at the quarry, Flo notified Hopper of a call from Benny's, urging him to head over to the diner.
After Jonathan's arrest, he and Nancy were taken to the police station. As Flo was getting her some ice, Nancy asked how long they would be there. She stated that Nancy would be released soon, but her "boyfriend" would stay a lot longer as he had assaulted a police officer. Nancy denied being in a relationship with Jonathan, to which Flo responded that she should tell Jonathan that, as "only love makes you that crazy sweetheart, and that damn stupid."
Flo was present when Troy and his mother arrived at the station to report his arm had been broken by another child. When Troy described the girl's appearance, Hopper took interest and asked for more information. Troy then described her abilities, and said that she was always with Mike, Lucas, and Dustin.
In December, Florence attended the Christmas party held at the police station. She wished Hopper a Merry Christmas.
1984[]
On the morning of October 30, Florence intervened a conversation between Hopper and Murray, informing Hopper about the contamination of Merrill's pumpkin field which gave him an excuse to get away from Murray.
On November 1st, Florence was working at her desk and gave Hopper the keys to his car after he realized the blight of the pumpkin fields and other local crops formed a series of concentric circles, centered at Hawkins Lab.
On November 2nd, Florence received eight calls from Joyce Byers, demanding to only see Hopper and no one else before asking Florence to let Hopper know. When Florence finally heard from Hopper, she told him of Joyce wanting to see him and begged him to deal with her so Florence would no longer have to hear from Joyce.
1985[]
On June 30th, Florence walks up to Hopper, handing him the summer button-up shirt he requested for his date tonight.
