The song was played during the Snow Ball of Hawkins Middle School. Mike Wheeler, Eleven, Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair, Max Mayfield, Nancy Wheeler and Will Byers danced to the song, with Mike and Eleven and Lucas and Max kissing each other. Meanwhile, a supernatural force called the Mind Flayer watched them from another dimension.[1]

When Max was attacked by the leader of the dimension, Vecna, she used her memories to recreate the Snow Ball in her mind, with "Every Breath You Take". However, when Vecna arrived, the song distorted into "Dream A Little Dream Of Me" by Ella Fitzgerald.[2]
