Eliot was the pet parakeet of Tanya's strict mother, and is noted to have won a prize at a bird show during that March. In Erica's imagination, she sees Eliot as a firey phoenix.
During a sleepover at Erica Sinclair's house, Tanya snuck Eliot away to show her friends, as she found him cooler than Erica's Dungeons and Dragons game. However, when the girls argue, they accidentally kick open the cage, startling Eliot and causing him to fly away. He eventually flies into Miss Dorothy's house, landing in her kitchen.
As Tanya distracts Miss Dorothy, Erica attempts to catch the bird without scaring him. While she succeeds, Miss Dorothy's dog bites through the net and chases the bird into the street. The girls then lure the bird back with birdseed, and while he is spooked by the dog again, Tanya manages to catch him. They use him as bait to then catch the runaway dog and return him to his owner.
