"Dream A Little Dream Of Me" is a song by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, released in 1950. When "Dream" played on Victor Creel's radio, it provided a 'lifeline to reality' which helped him escape the psychic manipulations of his son.

History[]

1959[]

The Creel family moved into a new home in Hawkins, Indiana, using Virginia Creel's great-uncle's possession. Upon arriving, the son, Henry Creel, used his powers to traumatize his family. Eventually, he killed his mother Virginia and sister Alice. His father Victor was able to escape his curse because of "Dream A Little Dream Of Me" playing on the radio. Afterwards, he was blamed for the murders of Virginia and Alice Creel, and was shipped off to Pennhurst Mental Hospital.[1]

1986[]

Henry, now known as "Vecna", once again started his attacks, targeting Max Mayfield. Nancy Wheeler and Robin Buckley arrived at Pennhurst to speak to Victor, to try to save Max. Victor explained what had happened in 1959. Through this knowledge, Max was able to be saved by playing her favorite song, "Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush. Later, Max was once again targeted by Vecna. She managed to recreate the Snow Ball in her mind, and was transported there, with "Every Breath You Take" by the Police playing. However, soon after, balloons started bursting with blood, and "Every Breath You Take" distorted to "Dream A Little Dream Of Me".[2]

Lyrics[]

Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you"
Birds singin' in the sycamore trees
Dream a little dream of me

Say "Night-ie night" and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me
While I'm alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me

Stars fading but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss
I'm longing to linger 'til dawn, dear
Just saying this

Sweet dreams 'til sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams, whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me

Stars fading but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss
I'm longing to linger 'til dawn, dear
Just saying this

Sweet dreams 'til sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams, whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me
Dream a little dream of me
Dream a little dream of me
