Dead by Daylight is an asymmetric multiplayer survival horror online game developed by Canadian studio Behaviour Interactive. The game was released on June 14, 2016 for PC, June 20, 2017 for Xbox One and PS4, September 24, 2019 for Switch, and April 16, 2020 for mobile.

In Dead by Daylight, one player takes on the role of "Killer", and four others play as "Survivors"; the Survivors attempt to avoid the Killer's attacks, all the while working to fix generators, power the exit gates and ultimately escape the map.

The game's thirteenth chapter, based on the Netflix series Stranger Things, was released on September 17, 2019; however the chapter and associated content was removed on November 17, 2021 after Netflix declined to renew their contract with Behaviour Interactive. However, for Stranger Things Day on November 6, 2023, it was announced the chapter had been reinstated in full, with the Demogorgon, both survivors, and the Underground Complex map all returning to the game.

Chapter 13: Stranger Things[]

"Stranger Things" is the thirteenth chapter released for Dead by Daylight. The chapter was released on September 17, 2019 on a wide range of platforms, and was available for purchase until November 17, 2021, when it was withdrawn due to a contractual expiration. However, for Stranger Things Day on November 6, 2023, it was announced that the chapter had been restored in full.

Description[]

Stranger Things is a brand-new Chapter for Dead by Daylight that features a new Killer and two new Survivors. The Entity descends upon the midwestern town of Hawkins, Indiana as Stranger Things, the critically acclaimed Netflix Original Series, enters the realm of Dead by Daylight.

Release history[]

The Stranger Things Chapter was first teased in 2019; Netflix's Twitter account told players to "watch out" for upcoming projects with different games companies. On August 19, 2019, the Stranger Things Chapter was announced through a trailer, released as part of Gamescom 2019.

The chapter was released on September 17, 2019 on a wide range of platforms. However, on 16 August 2021, Behaviour Interactive announced that the chapter and most associated content would be leaving Dead by Daylight, since Netflix declined to renew their contract. The chapter and associated content was then removed on November 17, 2021, with players no longer able to purchase Stranger Things content, though previously bought content remained usable by players. The major game-impacting change brought about by the content suspension was the removal of the Underground Complex map.

For Stranger Things Day on November 6, 2023, it was announced that the chapter had been restored in full. @strangerwriters put out the following tweet following the announcment:

Everyone’s passion for this made a BIG DIFFERENCE. This wouldn’t have happened if not for you. So THANK YOU!!!
