Billy Hargrove was the owner of a Chevrolet 1979 Z/28 Camaro.
Since the car had California plates, Billy acquired the Camaro sometime prior to moving to Hawkins, Indiana in late October of 1984. After getting "flayed" in June 1985, the possessed Billy used the vehicle to transport his victims to Brimborn Steel Works.
During the Spider Monster's attack on Starcourt Mall, Billy attempted to use the Camaro to run down the Party, but got "t-boned" by Steve Harrington in another vehicle. Though the Camaro was wrecked, Billy escaped from the car relatively unharmed, and proceeded to pursue his targets on foot.

Given Billy's age, it can be inferred that he likely bought the Camaro between 1982 and 1984. Since the car had California plates, it was purchased before his family moved to Hawkins, in October, 1984.
1984[]
October 30th[]
On Billy's first day of school in Hawkins, he (with his stepsister Max Mayfield as a passenger) drove his car to Hawkins High School. There, Billy attracted the attention of a group of onlooking girls. After school, Billy used the car to drop Max off at Palace Arcade.
October 31st[]
When Max got out of school, she found Billy leaning against the front fender of his car. Billy warned her that if she was late again he would drive home without her. While driving home, Billy and Max argued about whose "fault" was it that they had to move to Hawkins. Billy attempted to run Lucas, Mike, and Dustin over with his car, but Max took the wheel and steered the car away, narrowly saving them. When Billy attended a Halloween party that night he likely drove the Camaro there.
November 1st[]
After school, Billy once again waited for Max near his car, but her tardiness wore down his patience and he drove off with a female student, likely a date.
November 2nd[]
As Billy waited for his stepsister to leave the school, he noticed her talking with Lucas. When she got in the car, they had an argument that led to Billy warning her to stop seeing Lucas.
November 3rd[]
Billy took the car to Palace Arcade to drop off Max. He would return later to pick up Max, and he would see Max talking to Lucas. Before they drove home, Billy ominously told Max there would be consequences.
November 4th[]
During the afternoon, Max slipped out of the Hargrove House to go with Lucas to see proof of the story Lucas' had told her. Later that evening, Billy's enraged father threatened him, forcing Billy to search for Max. He drove his Camaro to the Wheeler House where Mrs. Wheeler told him that Max might be at the Byers house. Arriving at the Byers house, Billy confronted Steve Harrington. Once inside he saw Max with Lucas and became enraged. Billy attacked Lucas but Steve intervened and fought Billy. Steve was badly beaten by Billy. Max saved him by drugging Billy. The Party stole Billy's car while he was unconscious, and drove it to the Underground Tunnels to set them ablaze.
1985[]
During the summer of 1985, Billy got a new job at Hawkins Community Pool as a lifeguard, likely using his Camaro as a way of getting to and from work.
June 29th[]
After meeting with Karen Wheeler at the pool, Billy had asked her to meet him for some non-professional activities. That evening, he drove the car to meet her at a hotel, but as he passed by Brimborn Steel Works, something crashed into his windshield. The car wrecked in front of the abandoned steel works. As Billy exited the vehicle, he was pulled into the steel works. Billy was possessed by the Mind Flayer entering him, Billy fled the steel works and drove to a telephone booth, where he attempted to make a phone call. Before he could make the call, he saw a vision. Afterward, he drove home.
June 30th[]
After experiencing severe discomfort and uncoordination at his job, Billy gave in to the Mind Flayer's demands and kidnapped coworker Heather Holloway, hogtying her and transporting her to the steel works in his Camaro.
July 1st[]
While searching for Billy in the void, Eleven saw the vehicle parked outside the steel works.
July 4th[]
When Eleven attempted to contact Billy in the void, she entered his mind and saw his memories. She saw he came under the Mind Flayer's control and she saw the car crashed outside the steel works.

Later, when the Spider Monster attacked Starcourt Mall, Billy drove to the mall to help in killing the Party. He sabotaged the Wheeler vehicle, and set a trap for them in the parking lot. Billy attempted to ram the Wheeler's station wagon with his Camaro. But Steve intervened by ramming the Camaro with the Todfthr. The Camaro was wrecked. Billy was briefly knocked unconscious from the impact, but awakened to escape the vehicle just as it caught fire. The car then burned.
