Amy Lynne Seimetz (born November 25, 1981) is an American actress, writer, producer, director, and editor. She portrays Becky Ives in the first and second seasons of Stranger Things.
Amy Seimetz first came to prominence producing and directing shorts and independent films. Most notably associate producing Barry Jenkins' Medicine For Melancholy which was nominated for Gotham and Independent Spirit Awards, after playing at South By Southwest and the Toronto International Film Festival. She started acting in 2003 and she's also a writer, producer, director, and editor.
She is of Ukrainian, Croatian, Slovenian, German, Irish, and English descent.
She grew up in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area, and briefly attended film school at the Florida State University before moving to Los Angeles.
There she worked as a nanny, a waitress, and a seamstress while learning filmmaking.
She has been engaged to Shane Carruth since 2013, but in 2019, they separated. In 2020, she gained a restraining order against him because he allegedly abused her mentally, emotionally, and physically for years. It will expire in August 2025.
