Here is an excerpt of a July 2025 interview:

Originally cast for a small part, his role was expanded significantly during filming — a testament to his on-set presence and natural talent. More details will be announced closer to release"

So, this suggests to me that Thomas (and possibly the other abducted kids) will be playing a significant role in season 5, volume 2...
