Queerbait means that they introduce (usually) a pair of characters that could become a thing, or a character heavily insinuated to be queer, without ever actually confirming this in the show. Byler is a good example for this, or John & Sherlock in bbc. Not the fact that Mike isn’t gay would be queerbait, but the fact that they didn’t deny it just to keep queer audiences with the show.
