And third, the Mind Flayer is much more mysterious than Vecna, since we still do not know his history. Also, the Mind Flayer never says anything and he looks like something beyond human understanding. Personally, I found the image of the Shadow Monster more creepy than Vecna.

As it has already become known, in season 5, the Mind Flayer will have two forms. The first is his true (shadow) form and the second is his "avatar". Judging by the concept art, his avatar will be very similar to the Spider Monster from season 3. And here the question is whether it will be his old resurrected body or a new one. I am more inclined to the first theory, since in season 3, the Mind Flayer needed a lot of time to infect several dozen people with his particles. Although, given that the gap between seasons 4 and 5 will be at least 1 year, it is possible that during this year the Shadow Monster will have time to infect enough people.

The release date for season 5 was recently leaked, namely the first 6 episodes will be released on October 10, the other two are supposed to be released in winter.

Anyone have any ideas for a new name for the Mind Flayer? I first looked into the lore of Dnd and looked for antiheroes with names ending in rt, but I didn't find anything, then I looked among the gods of Lovecraft (because the Shadow Monster is very similar to Cthulhu) but again I didn't find anything. I also dug into mythology and looked for creatures that look like living smoke or a tornado or a clot of darkness, but I didn't find anything either.

Before writing this theory, prepare yourself for spoilers for "First Shadow". Those who know the plot of First Shadow know that Vecna, like Will, was a host of the Mind Flayer since childhood. What prompted me to this theory was that I relatively recently watched the TV series Lost. Anyone who has also watched the series cannot help but admit that the ST and Lost universes are somewhat similar.

So I think that the Upside Down is possibly hell, because outwardly hell and UD are similar (red sky, demons and the devil). The Devil is a Mind Eater because in season 2 Will literally tells Dr. Owens that he is Evil. Therefore, MF is possibly the embodiment of evil. See for yourself: he seems to consist of darkness, his goals are to create chaos and kill all living things, he can also “corrupt” people by inhabiting them and granting strength and almost immortality, and control over demogorgons. Just a real Devil!

And Dimension X is purgatory because there, as you can see, the monsters behave calmly, take Vecna ​​for example. He walked around the Dimension for many years and was not attacked by either demogorgons or MF. In addition, Dimension X looks calm: soft yellow skies, smooth rocks, flying stones and livitizing particles.
