Thank you for the response! Yeah, I am not saying Kali is the one who caused the vision but just that her character proves to us that this power exists. Meaning someone before her could’ve had it too.
I was thinking Holly works too. Both Holly and Henry have 5 letters and start with “H” and end with “Y”.
Either way, I can’t wait for Season 5!
There are so many Easter Eggs sprinkled throughout the series involving Felines and Birds. There are so many, that it has to have some sort of significance.
Aside from Cats/Tigers/Lions, there’s also a large showcase of birds sprinkled throughout the series. Hawks, falcons, eagles. Like the owl in Nancy’s room and the Falcon chess pieces in the Rainbow room when El is playing with 001. What could these be forshadowing?
I’ve been back and forth with this theory but I’ve recently formed some ideas that could help support it.
1) When Kali (008) was introduced in S2, I couldn’t see the significance until I re-watched all 4 seasons and realized how important her storyline really was. It was extremely significant to show us her super power of making people see what she wants them to see. Considering that this power exists, what if Alice Creel didn’t really die, but someone made it appear that she did?
2) I’ve had this running theory that Vecna could be using DND to manipulate the real world. If Alice (Karen Wheeler) understands this, then it is significant that she interrupted the boy’s campaign on November 6, 1983.
3) Karen Wheeler is always wearing some variations of Red & Blue throughout the entire show. Sometimes the red is shade of pink but, it’s always mixed with blue. This could represent both The Upside Down (blue) and Vecna’s lair (red).
4) She named their blonde daughter (who resembles young Alice) “Holly” which could be a female version of “Henry”. Perhaps homage to her brother.
I think the sole purpose of Kali’s character was to show us that having the Super Power of Making People See What She Wants Them to See.
Knowing that this power exists, consider Alice Creel still being alive and how she might come into play.
Remember when Karen got dressed up at night to go meet Billy for “private swimming lessons”?
As she walks downstairs, she looks over at Holly sleeping on Ted’s lap (also sleeping) and she has a change of heart and decides not to meet up with Billy.
My thought is that seeing Holly reminded her of a previous affair, an affair that produced a child (Holly).
Whats interesting is that “Holly” sounds like a feminine version of “Henry”.
Could it be that 001 escaped Hawkins Lab as an adult and hooked up with Karen? This could explain why Dr. Brenner had to implant a control device into 001’s neck and keep him as a prisoner.
Well, he is a “Wizard”. Wizards cast spells in the game DND. They can even cast time spells which could explain the UP being stuck in time. Will the Wise could have more power than we think.
I have a different perspective on this theory.
In S1E1, when the boys are getting on their bikes leaving Will’s house, they talk about how cool Nancy used to be…like the time she dressed up like an Elf for their previous campaign. Mike says, “Yeah, 4 years ago.”
4 years ago would make that 1979, the same year that El sent 001 through the portal opening the first gate.
Coincidently, El opened another gate by contacting/touching the Demogorgon when the boys were playing their DND campaign on November 6, 1983.
So we now have 2 separate connections to the UD portals and the DND campaigns.
I don’t think the Duffers would make it so obvious that this is one big DND game being played by Will, however, I could see the possibility of Vecna using DND as a means to control the real world. The reason Will was kept alive could be because he’s the only one who keeps pushing the group to keep playing. He’s the only one who cares about it.
I think Vecna is using the game DND to manipulate the real world. Perhaps he’s using Will to make sure the game is still accessible.
If you notice throughout the entire show, all Will wants to do is play DND. He’s constantly asking the group if they want to play or mentions looking forward to when they can play again.
As long as Will wants to keep playing DND, Vecna could still have access to the “players”.
