I was just wondering if the addition of the cinema scenes, and the showing of ‘Back to the Future’, had any possible meaning for the next season? 🤔
I get that. I was thinking perhaps more from a possible legal standpoint. I just think there’s enough of a ‘grey area’ it may put the ST people off? As much as I would love to see or hear a reference to the movie as it is a stone cold classic.
I doubt there will be a connection, and believe me I am a huge fan of that movie. Only because there is a bad real life Hollywood story connected to that production that the ST crew will be aware of and don’t want their own production to have any problems. I won’t go into details as I know there are young ones who read these pages, but its a big enough deal that ST would be unlikely to go down that route.

To be fair I think the Russians invented the technical way to open the portal. I believe that’s what El’s powers were being used for, to spy on the Russians. Remember that scene in season 1 where she’s listening to them before she finds the Demogorgon. Perhaps the one she saw was the same one the Russians had captured?
Its worth rewatching that part.
You don’t see who the American they are referring to is.
Because they didn’t feed the ‘American’ to the demagorgon. It was a Russian prisoner.
At the end of episode 8 the Russians refer to two prisoners they hold. One of them say’s ‘Not the American’ when they decide to feed one of the prisoners to thier own demagorgon. I believe the American they hold is Brenner and not Hopper.
I think it’s a line that’s meant to be taken however anybody wants to take it. Sure you can take it to mean that Mike is implying he’s gay. Or, it could just be about his discomfort around people other than his core group.
I don’t believe the ‘American’ line refers to Hopper. It just seems too obvious. My guess is that it’s Brenner. Also, I believe Hopper is in the UD but 11 can’t sense him while her powers are affected.
A lot better than season 2. Almost as good as season 1.
I don’t believe the person held captive is who we think it is.
It wasn’t shown onscreen, but implied. There’s plenty of wiggle room if the writers want to bring him back.
I’m still hoping for Brenner to appear at an UD portal to snatch Eleven into the UD.
I think the very last scene of season 3 will be a sudden moment where Brenner appears at a portal into the UD. I think he will grab Eleven and pull her in, then it will end. As for the end of ST entirely, I believe that something will happen where all the kids somehow develop the same power as Eleven in a ‘They were all special all along’ kind of thing, and close off the UD for good.
