My thoughts is about RE7 and ST are really scary and horror. I remember I used to watch this series the first time in 2023. The show is 8/10 and I watched all the episodes throughout season one and four. And also I played Resident Evil 7 the first time on my first playthrough and I got scared when play it. So yeah, Stranger Things take place in Hawkins, Indiana and Resident Evil 7 take place in Dulvey, Louisiana.

My favorite Joyce line is "Who are you calling? The police?"

Background (1959-1979)

In 1959, Henry Creel, a boy with telekinetic and psychic powers, kills his mother Virginia and sister Alice in the Creel House of Hawkins, Indiana. Dr. Martin Brenner, a member of the U.S. Government, fakes Henry’s death and kidnaps him to run tests on him, while his father Victor is incarcerated and blamed for his wife and daughter’s deaths. Dr. Brenner dubs Henry “001”. Brenner is part of the Project MKUltra, which experiments on men and women. The women’s offspring get psionic powers like Henry.

In 1969, a young woman named Terry Ives partakes in Project MKUltra when it is hosted at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She is tested on in sensory deprivation tanks.

In 1971, Terry Ives, a member of Project MKUltra, gives birth to a girl who is dubbed “011”, the eleventh test subject. Brenner steals Eleven from Terry and says that Eleven was stillborn. Her powers are further developed throughout her childhood in the Hawkins National Laboratory, alongside many more test subjects, to whom Dr. Brenner is known as “Papa”.

It’s 1974. Dr. Brenner is now the Head of Hawkins Lab, and he is—forcefully—helped by several orderlies, 001 being one of them, although his name is now Peter Ballard. One day Terry comes to take Eleven away from the lab, but Brenner has her brain damaged through electroshock therapy and she is permanently catatonic.

The following year, 1979, Eleven is bullied by test subject 002 and his lackeys. 001 tells Eleven that he will help her escape. In return, Eleven takes out the “Soteria” implanted in his neck, which prevents him from using his powers and tracks him. Afterwards they are intercepted by guards. Soon 001 massacres the entire lab and asks Eleven to join him in “reshaping the world”. Eleven refuses and after a short telekinetic battle, she opens a gate to another dimension by banishing 001 to it. 001’s body is deformed in storms of red lightning. The gate soon closes, shortly after which Brenner finds Eleven and continues tests on her because she was the only surviving test subject and she had shown a large capability of power; however, Eleven has been weakened, and has no memory of the battle with 001. Meanwhile, 001 explores a rocky and subterranean dimension. He finds several marvelous creatures. He comes across a dark cloud of particles, and shapes it into a spider-like form because of his fascination with black widows, and controls it. Through it he controls the entirety of the dimension and its inhabitants. Police chief Jim Hopper’s daughter Sara gets cancer and dies, and soon after his wife Diane divorces him. Hopper suspects Sara contracted cancer due to his history with Agent Orange when he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

1983

In 1983, Dr. Brenner tells Eleven to spy on Soviet spies with her psionic powers through the representation of her mind, the Void. But she finds a monster feasting on an egg, whose face opens up. Brenner tells Eleven to touch it, but in doing so, she psychically contacts it, and another gate, later called the Mothergate, opens up in the lab, through which the monster gets into the lab. The monster rampages the lab, killing several scientists. Eleven escapes. Eleven stays with Benny Hammond at his diner Benny’s Burgers for a while before Brenner’s agent Connie Frazier finds Benny and kills him, after which Eleven escapes to the woods.

The monster then captures Will Byers as he was returning home from playing a game of Dungeons & Dragons at his friend Mike Wheeler’s house with Mike, Dustin Henderson and Lucas Sinclair. His mother, Joyce, a cashier at Melvald’s General Store, and elder brother Jonathan, an introverted photographer, are worried for his safety and his mother tells Hopper to investigate. Meanwhile, Mike, Dustin and Lucas find Eleven in the woods. Eleven tells her new friends of “bad men '', referring to Brenner and his agents. They soon find out about the dimension and the monster, which they call the Upside Down and the Demogorgon respectively. The Upside Down is now a dark echo of Hawkins, Indiana, with vines (AKA tendrils), floating particles and abnormal creatures. They also learn about how a gate to the dimension would take a massive amount of energy from their science teacher Mr. Scott Clarke.

The Demogorgon kills Barbara Holland, a friend of Mike’s elder sister Nancy Wheeler, while she was with her boyfriend Steve Harrington, at Steve’s party. Nancy and Jonathan hunt for the Demogorgon. Will’s “body” is found in Sattler’s Quarry by David O’Bannon but Hopper confirms it is fake, realizing O’Bannon is working for the lab. Joyce’s ex-husband Lonnie comes to help her, but she finds out he is only here to get money from Will’s death. She kicks Lonnie out. After some investigation Hopper heads to the lab, where he discovers the gate.

Meanwhile, Joyce communicates with Will through lights, and the Demogorgon attempts to attack her. Later, Mike and Dustin are confronted by bullies Troy Walsh and James Dante. However, Eleven arrives, breaks Troy’s arm and saves Mike. They, Lucas, Joyce, Hopper, Nancy and Jonathan congregate at the Hawkins Middle School. There Eleven finds Barb’s dead body and Will through the Void. Joyce and Hopper are abducted by Dr. Brenner and Agent Connie Frazier. Joyce and Hopper go through the gate and find Will at the Upside Down version of the Hawkins Public Library. Brenner and his agents arrive at the school. Brenner is attacked by the Demogorgon, while Eleven kills Frazier and some other agents. Eleven confronts the Demogorgon, killing it and being transported to the Upside Down in the process. Eleven escapes the Upside Down, evades the government and hides out in the woods, until Hopper finds her and brings her to his cabin. On Christmas Day, Will is transported to the Upside Down for a few seconds and coughs up a baby Demogorgon, called a Pollywog. It disappears down the sink.

1984

In 1984, the Soviet Union attempts to create a gate to the Upside Down in the Kamchatka Peninsula with a machine, an operation overseen by Major General Stepanov, but it fails. Joyce is in a relationship with Bob Newby, the owner of the local RadioShack, who calls himself “Bob Newby, Superhero”. Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Will see that “MADMAX” has topped their score in Dig Dug at the Palace Arcade. They meet the new girl at school, Max Mayfield, who is troubled by her stepbrother Billy Hargrove.

Will has been having “episodes” in which he is transported to the Upside Down for brief amounts of time. In these episodes he hears chirping noises, and sees a large, cloud-like black figure. Max joins the Party (the group consisting of Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Will, and later El and Max). On Halloween, Eleven wants to go trick-or-treating but Hopper doesn’t allow it for her safety. He, Officer Phil Callahan and Officer Calvin Powell investigate rotting pumpkins at Eugene McCorkle and Merrill Wright’s pumpkin patches. Mike, Will, Dustin and Lucas go trick-or-treating as Ghostbusters and Max joins them as Michael Myers. While trick-or-treating, Will has another episode, and captures the Mind Flayer on Bob’s VCR. Nancy breaks up with Steve. Dustin finds a tadpole-like creature in his trash and names it D’Artagnan (Dart for short) because of its love for 3 Musketeers bars. Will recognizes it as from the Upside Down, and eventually it escapes into the school.

As the Party searches for it, Will is transported to another one of his episodes. But instead of running from the shadow monster, he stands his ground and confronts it, just like Bob advised. But unfortunately the monster got into his body through his nose and mouth, possessing him. Joyce finds out about the Mind Flayer from Bob’s VCR tape. Will tells Joyce that the monster likes it cold. When asked to draw what he saw in the episodes, Will started drawing a series of interconnecting lines.

Eleven disobeys Hopper and escapes his cabin. She tracks down her mother Terry, and learns from Terry’s sister Becky that she is mentally disabled and can only repeat certain words. She uses mental contact to learn of what Brenner did to Terry. Afterwards, she tracks down her fellow test subject and so-called “sister”, Kali Prasad, or 008. She goes down to Chicago where Kali helps her enhance her powers by channeling emotion, and Eleven learns that Kali can make people see, or not see, whatever she wants. They learn from a former Hawkins Lab orderly Ray Carroll, the man who conducted the electroshock therapy on Terry, that Brenner is alive. Later, Eleven leaves Kali and her gang to help Mike and Hopper.

Joyce and Hopper connect the drawings and Bob says that it’s a map of Hawkins, and the lines are tunnels under it. Joyce and Bob arrive at the center of the Hawkins Tunnel System, the “hub”, where they find Hopper nearly suffocated by vines. Hawkins Lab’s new head, Dr. Sam Owens sends some military to burn the tunnels. But by burning the tunnels Will felt immense pain because he is now connected to the Upside Down & all its inhabitants. Nancy and Jonathan reach Murray Bauman, a former journalist turned private detective investigating Barb’s death. Dart molts, and Dustin recognizes it as a baby Demogorgon. He calls Steve to help capture Dart but Dart escapes to the Hawkins Tunnel System. Nancy and Jonathan explain the events of 1983 to Murray and ask him to figure out a way to close down the lab. The trio publish in newspapers that a chemical leak from the lab killed Barb; during their time at Murray’s warehouse in Sesser, Illinois, Nancy and Jonathan discover their feelings for each other.

Dr. Owens, Bob, Joyce, Hopper, Will and Mike go back to the lab and try to treat Will. But adolescent Demogorgons, Demodogs, attack the lab after they emerge from the gate. Demodogs massacre the lab. Bob manages to turn on power to help Joyce, Hopper, Will and Mike escape, while Owens stays behind. Bob is killed and eaten by Demodogs.

The shadow monster is dubbed the Mind Flayer after a D&D monster with which it shares characteristics. Max, Lucas, Dustin and Steve confront Demodogs, including Dart. The Party, Joyce, Hopper, Nancy and Jonathan all arrive at the Byers house, where Eleven appears. They are shocked to see El. Later, they exorcize the Mind Flayer out of Will. Meanwhile, Hopper takes El to the lab so that she can close the gate. Dustin, Steve, Lucas and Max burn the Hawkins Tunnel System after Max confronts Billy, with help from Dart. El closes the gate, and all the Demodogs, including Dart, die. The piece of the Mind Flayer remains dormant. Hawkins Lab is shut down. The Party gathers for a dance at the Snow Ball at Hawkins Middle, and the Mind Flayer looms over it in its Upside Down version.

1985

It’s the summer of 1985. Mike & Eleven are in a full-blown relationship and the rest of the Party, alongside Hopper, is immensely annoyed by it. Dustin has arrived from Camp Know-where, where he has apparently met a girl, Suzie Bingham, but no one believes him. He has developed a ham radio, Cerebro, to contact her, but she never responds. Hawkins’s Mayor Larry Kline has granted land to Starcourt Industries, and a brand new mall, Starcourt Mall has opened. The owners of small shops around Hawkins riot against Mayor Kline. Hopper confronts Kline, and sees a helmeted biker on the way out. Steve works at an ice cream shop called Scoops Ahoy at the mall alongside his coworker Robin Buckley.

Dustin tries to contact Suzie but instead intercepts Russian communication. He, Steve and Robin understand that the words are coming from within or around Starcourt Mall itself. After Robin translates the words, she realizes it’s a code and promptly cracks it; it came from a base beneath the mall. But to get into the base, they recruit Lucas’s younger sister Erica. Meanwhile, Hopper separates Mike and El, and Joyce’s magnets fall off. Hopper makes Mike lie to El, which leads to her going shopping with Max at Starcourt and then dumping Mike. Realizing that something is wrong, Joyce goes to Mr. Clarke, who explains there is something affecting the electromagnetic field in Hawkins. Joyce and Hopper arrive at the now abandoned Hawkins Lab to investigate what could be affecting the magnetic field, but to no avail. However, Hopper ends up in a scuffle with the biker he saw at Town Hall.

The Mind Flayer particles which had possessed Will in 1984 have aroused once again. It possesses rats and then melts them into biomass. Soon the combobulated biomass forms a large proxy body for the Mind Flayer. Doris Driscoll, a sweet old widow, catches a possessed rat. Nancy and Jonathan, who are now working for a newspaper agency The Hawkins Post, investigate Mrs. Driscoll’s rat and discover that rats are consuming Mrs. Driscoll’s fertilizer. Upon explaining this to their boss, Tom Holloway, he and other colleagues, such as Bruce Lowe, mock Nancy and Jonathan. The Mind Flayer possesses Billy after Karen, Mike and Nancy’s mother, is attracted to him. Billy then brings his fellow lifeguard Heather Holloway to Brimborn Steelworks, the proxy body’s current residence. The Mind Flayer possesses Heather as well. Eleven sees Billy and Heather acting weird through her Void but when she and Max reach the Holloway residence, they see that they are perfectly fine. Soon Billy and Heather allow the Mind Flayer to possess Heather’s parents Tom and Janet. Nancy and Jonathan discover Mrs. Driscoll eating fertilizer; she had been possessed too. Mrs. Driscoll is transferred to Hawkins Memorial Hospital. Eleven sees Billy and Heather acting weird through her Void but when she and Max reach the Holloway residence, they see that they are perfectly fine. They inform Mike, Will and Lucas of this. They, Nancy and Jonathan come to the conclusion that the Mind Flayer is “Flaying” people.

Joyce and Hopper’s investigation leads them to the Hess Farm, where they meet the biker, Grigori, and a scientist, Dr. Alexei. They kidnap Alexei as Grigori tries to shoot them down. Not understanding Alexei, because he only speaks Russian, they bring him to Murray for translation. From Alexei, they learn that the Soviets are opening a new gate underneath Starcourt Mall using a machine called a “Key”. The fabric of spacetime in Hawkins was weakened enough by the Mothergate to create a gate with the Key, and the Soviets have been using Hess Farm as a power source.

Dustin, Steve, Robin and Erica, the “Scoops Troop”, travel down to the base, evade and fight guards, and discover the gate and the Key. Steve and Robin are captured, tortured and drugged by General Ozerov and Dr. Zharkov before Dustin and Erica rescue them and bring them back up to the mall, killing Zharkov. There, Robin, under the effect of the drugs, reveals she is lesbian to Steve.

Tom and Bruce massacre the Hawkins Memorial Hospital before being melted down to biomass. The Mind Flayer also melts down the rest of the Flayed, including Heather, Janet and Mrs. Driscoll, at Brimborn Steelworks, except for Billy, and their biomass merges into the proxy body to make it gargantuan.

Murray and Alexei bond, and they, Joyce and Hopper steal a car, the TODFTHR, from a man named Todd. They reach the Fun Fair, an Independence Day fair arranged by Mayor Kline. There Grigori kills Alexei. The proxy body, dubbed the Spider Monster, attacks Eleven at Hopper’s cabin and injures her leg. El, Mike, Lucas, Will, Max, Nancy and Jonathan, codenamed “Griswold Family”, arrive at Starcourt and meet the Scoops Troop. There El drags out a piece of the Spider Monster which was inside Eleven’s leg, and had sucked out her telekinetic powers. Soon Joyce, Hopper and Murray arrive at Starcourt as well. They realize that if the gate under Starcourt Mall is closed, the Spider Monster will die. And so, Murray (who is codenamed the “Bald Eagle”), Joyce and Hopper travel down to the base and initiate their plan to sabotage the Key and thus close the gate. The Scoops Troop arrive at the hill named Weathertop where Cerebro is situated. From there they guide Joyce, Hopper and Murray through the base. The Spider Monster attacks Starcourt Mall. El, Mike, Lucas, Will, Max, Nancy and Jonathan escape the mall but are confronted by Billy. Then they are separated, and Steve and Robin rescue Lucas, Will, Nancy and Jonathan.

The Spider Monster starts to chase them but heads back to the mall. A code which Murray had provided Joyce and Hopper was wrong, so Dustin manages to contact Suzie, who manages to give them the code, Planck’s constant, after forcing Dusting to sing a rendition of Neverending Story with her. Lucas, Will, Nancy, Jonathan, Steve and Robin head back to the mall. There Billy has brought El in front of the Spider Monster. Lucas and the others pelt the Spider Monster with fireworks. El frees Billy from possession by reminding him of his memories. Grigori arrives and after a short scuffle, Hopper throws him into the Key and he dies.

But unfortunately Hopper is trapped due to surges of electricity from the malfunctioning Key. Joyce is forced to close the gate before the Spider Monster could kill the children. Hopper escapes as the Key explodes and the gate closes, but is then captured by the Soviets. Joyce and everyone else thinks he died. Billy then sacrifices himself to save El from the Spider Monster. Shortly afterwards the Spider Monster dies and collapses due to his connection to the rest of the Mind Flayer in the Upside Down being severed.

Starcourt Mall burns down in the fire started by the fireworks, and Dr. Owens covers up the deaths of the Flayed with the fire. Larry Kline is arrested due to corruption, and people start associating Hawkins with Satan due to the sheer amount of unusual deaths in the last few years. Steve and Robin are employed by Keith, a former employee of the Palace Arcade, at Family Video. The Byers and Eleven move away to Lenora Hills, California, both Jonathan and Nancy and Mike and Eleven trying to work a long-distance relationship. Dr. Owens starts working with Dr. Brenner on the Nina Project, to bring back Eleven’s powers, with the U.S. Military and the Pentagon against them.

1986

The following year, 1986, Eleven is having a hard time fitting in in Lenora Hills High School and fails at subjects frequently; she is the subject of bullying by a girl named Angela, her boyfriend Jake and their lackeys. Mike, Dustin and Lucas are members of the Hellfire Club, a Dungeons & Dragons club led by drug dealer Eddie Munson. Lucas is also part of the Hawkins High School Basketball Team, led by Jason Carver. Max is suffering trauma and guilt due to Billy’s death, frequently visits the school counselor Ms. Kelley, and has severed all ties with her friends. Nancy is working for The Weekly Streak, the schools’ newspaper, with her coworker Fred Benson, and Jonathan has become a drug addict with his friend Argyle, who works for Surfer Boy Pizza. Powell has become Hawkins’s new Chief of Police in Hopper’s absence. Mike comes to visit El and the Byers in California.

Joyce gets mailed a Russian doll, and Murray suggests destroying the doll; upon doing so, Joyce discovers a note saying Hopper is alive. Henry targets Chrissy Cunningham, an emotionally distressed cheerleader from Hawkins High School and Jason’s girlfriend. While she is buying drugs at Eddie’s trailer, she is transported to an alternate version of the trailer; a version made by Henry. Her physical body floats up, her eyes suck in and her bones crack as Eddie watches in horror. She then falls dead. The police suspect Eddie is the murderer. Unsatisfied with the Hawkins Police Department’s investigation, Jason and his basketball team, including his right-hand man Andy and Chance, lead the town to believe Hellfire is a Satanic cult, and he and the rest of the basketball team try to track down Eddie. Dustin, Max, Steve and Robin find Eddie and question him about Chrissy’s death. Dustin and Eddie find the similarities to Vecna’s Curse, a concept from Dungeons & Dragons, and label Henry Vecna.

Vecna then kills Fred in the same manner, and Nancy joins the troop. Murray comes to Lenora, and he and Joyce call a number written on the note. A Russian man with the codename “Enzo” (the restaurant at which Joyce and Hopper were supposed to have a date) directs them to go to Yuri’s Fish n’ Fly in Nome, Alaska. El eventually hits Angela with a roller skate at Rink-O-Mania and is incarcerated by the police, but the vehicle transporting her is intercepted by Dr. Owens and his agents Ellen Stinson, Harmon and Wallace. Max starts seeing a ticking grandfather clock in random places, and she eventually realizes she is next. Nancy learns from Wayne Munson, Eddie’s uncle, that a man named Victor Creel may be behind the murders. She and Robin arrive in Pennhurst Asylum, where Victor is, tricking Director Anthony Hatch.

They learn the history of the Creel House, and Victor believes that demons were behind the murders of his wife and daughter who were killed in the same way as Chrissy and Fred. Victor claims he somehow survived because of the music; Dream a Little Dream of Me by Ella Fitzgerald. Max is teleported to Vecna’s Mindscape while she is at a graveyard in front of Billy’s grave. There Vecna starts to kill her, but just in time Dustin, Lucas and Steve play her favorite song, Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush. This opens up a gate to the real world for Max to escape through, and she does. Dustin, Lucas, Max, Nancy, Steve, Robin and Eddie investigate the Creel House and understand that Vecna’s base of operations is the Upside Down version of the attic of the Creel House.

Hopper is in a prison in Kamchatka, and is in a deal with prison guard Dmitri Antonov, AKA Enzo, to call Joyce to Russia. Hopper even manages to flee the prison. Joyce and Murray arrive at Yuri’s Fish n’ Fly, where they learn that Yuri Ismaylov is a peanut butter smuggler. Yuri then double-crosses, drugs and kidnaps them to sell them to the prison and get even more money. He also reveals to the prison that Dmitri was working against them for the American prisoner, and both Hopper and Dmitri are put back in prison. Aboard the plane, Murray uses his karate skills to defeat Yuri and they crash land into Kamchatka. Meanwhile, Dmitri & Hopper learn that the guards have a monster in the prison ready to eat them and some other prisoners, and it doesn’t take long for Hopper to figure out that it is a Demogorgon. Hopper figures out a plan to thwart the Russian Demogorgon.

Dr. Owens convinces Eleven to come with him to the Nina Project, in an abandoned ICBM silo in the Nevada desert. Upon seeing Dr. Brenner, Eleven initially attempts to flee, but agrees to stay for her powers to return. Stinson stations Wallace and Harmon at the Byers house to take care of Will, Mike and Jonathan. However, they are soon attacked by Sullivan and his men; Wallace and Harmon are both shot. Argyle arrives with his pizza van and rescues Mike, Will, Jonathan and Agent Harmon. El is put in a sensory deprivation tank, and after reliving several moments from her past at Hawkins Lab through CCTV footage, including her fight against Henry, she regains her powers. She then uses the Void to see what her friends in Hawkins are doing and see that they are planning against Vecna. Mike, Will, Jonathan and Argyle get coordinates of the Nina Project from Agent Harmon, who then dies.

They then reach Salt Lake City, Utah, the home of the Binghams. There, Suzie prints out the location of the Nina Project. Joyce and Murray kidnap Yuri. Murray makes Yuri act as him, and he impersonates Yuri. Murray, Yuri and Joyce arrive at the prison just as the Russian Demogorgon is killing prisoners. Murray threatens the guards at the prison and Joyce opens the door for Hopper and Dmitri to escape, and they all reunite. They then discover cryogenically frozen Demodogs and even a sample of the Mind Flayer in the prison. The Russian Demogorgon rampages the prison.

Jason’s friend Patrick McKinney is killed by Vecna over Lover’s Lake. Steve is pulled through Patrick’s cursegate, “Watergate”, by vines, to the Upside Down. There he is attacked by mutated bats named demobats before Nancy, Robin and Eddie save him. While they are in the Upside Down, they discover that the Upside Down is stuck in November 4, 1983, the day Will went missing. Meanwhile, Callahan and Powell question Dustin, Lucas and Max, and Karen, her husband Ted, Erica, Lucas’s parents Sue and Charles and Dustin’s mother Claudia are worried that they are involved with Eddie. Dustin, Lucas, Max and Erica realize that there are gates at every murder site, called “cursegates”.

Eleven wants to go to Hawkins to help her friends fight Vecna with Dr. Owens but Dr. Brenner doesn’t let her, and drugs Eleven and incarcerates Dr. Owens. United States Military’s Lt. Col. Sullivan believes Eleven is behind the murders and arrives, along with a troop, at the Nina Project. Brenner leaves the building with Eleven but a sniper in a helicopter shoots him down. Eleven crashes the helicopter onto the building before the sniper could kill her. Eleven is rescued by Mike, Will, Jonathan and Argyle, Brenner dies. Sullivan and his men survive, while what happened to Dr. Owens is left unknown.

Yuri is forced to bring Dmitri, Murray, Joyce and Hopper to his helicopter Katinka, but Yuri states it’s in bad condition. They then go to Yuri’s warehouse in Kyrzran. Dmitri makes Yuri have a change of heart and Yuri fixes Katinka. But Joyce realizes a gate is open in Hawkins; otherwise the Mind Flayer particles would be dormant. She, Hopper and Murray return to the prison to destroy the particles but discover that gunfire had destroyed the tanks holding the Mind Flayer particles and the Demodogs. The particles had gotten into the Demodogs and possessed them.

While Max is baiting Vecna, Robin, Steve and Nancy head to the Upside Down to kill Vecna by burning his physical body. Eddie & Dustin distract the demobats from on top of Eddie’s trailer with his guitar by playing Master of Puppets by Metallica. Max thinks of a happy memory and is transported to the Snow Ball. Meanwhile, Eleven plans to “piggyback” on Max’s mind in the same way she learnt of Terry and Billy’s histories. Argyle brings her to a nearby Surfer Boy Pizza where they create a makeshift sensory deprivation tank. Dream a Little Dream of Me starts playing at the Snow Ball, which then slowly distorts and becomes the Upside Down Snow Ball, but in truth is just a figment of Vecna’s mind. Then Vecna arrives, followed by Eleven. Eleven confronts him but Vecna overpowers her and knocks out Max. He transports Eleven to his Mindscape and then brings Max Vecna reveals to Eleven what he did in the Upside Down, and Eleven tells him Brenner is dead. Vecna reveals that he has been behind everything all along, and he says that it is too late to change anything.

Vecna then kills Max through his curse while Jason is fighting Lucas. After successfully diverting the demobats’ attention, Dustin flees the Upside Down but Eddie decides to buy more time; unfortunately the demobats eventually kill him. Hopper baits a Demodog to the center of the prison, and soon all the Demodogs and the Russian Demogorgon arrive, but Murray burns them with a flamethrower from Yuri’s warehouse. Pained because of the hive mind of the Upside Down, Vecna starts howling.

After successfully diverting the demobats’ attention, Dustin flees the Upside Down but Eddie decides to buy more time; unfortunately the demobats eventually kill him. The Russian Demogorgon survives the burn, but Hopper beheads it with a sword. Steve and Robin burn Vecna with Molotov cocktails and Nancy shoots him with a gun, but Vecna escapes.

Dmitri and Yuri arrive with Katinka to rescue Joyce, Hopper and Murray. A new gate emerges where Max died in the attic of the Creel House, but this doesn’t stop expanding; it melts Jason, and then merges with all the other cursegates which also started expanding at the center of Hawkins. El revives Max but Max is comatose. Hawkins residents start fleeing the town. El, Mike, Joyce, Hopper, Dustin, Lucas, Will, Nancy, Steve, Jonathan, Robin and Erica reunite. Dustin comforts Wayne, and Robin speaks to her crush Vickie. They watch as the Upside Down slowly leaks into Hawkins, and particles rain down upon the town.
