We left the arcade and Max wanted to skateboard to the mall rather than walk. "Wanna get on?" Max asked. "Sure. " I said. "Okay, you get on the back, I'll get on the front." she said. "Okay. But what if I fall?" I said timidly. "Awwwww..... don't worry. I got your back!" Max said. "Thanks, zoomer!" I said as I chuckled a little. "You're welcome." said Max. We both got on the skateboard and skated to the mall. I looked around the small town of Hawkins. It was very beautiful, but very.....strange. We finally made it to Starcourt Mall, and when we walked in. It was pretty crowded as always. "Let's go shopping for clothes, Max!" I said excitedly. "Okay." Max said. We went to JC Penney and looked around for clothes. I saw some very tubular dresses. "Max, let's go over there!" I said excitedly, pointing to the dress aisle. She shooked her head in disagreement and said, "I'm totally not going over there." She said boringly and sarcastically as she rolled her blue eyes. I stared at her annoyingly and said, "Fine." Max told me that she's a tomboy and that she wasn't interested in what other girls do, like wearing pink, getting their makeup done, getting a perm, wearing high heels or dressing femininely. "I-I can relate to that." I stuttered. "I hate that frilly girly-girl junk." I added. "Me too." Max said. We went to get overalls, hoodies, jackets, jeans and t-shirts, you know, the typical tomboy clothes in the 80s. We paid for our things and went to more stores. After hours and hours of shopping, Max and I started to get hungry. Very hungry. The red-headed girl's stomach started to growl. My stomach also started to growl. "I'm totally starving." Max said. "Me too, Max" I added. "I got an idea. Let's go to Orange Julius!" I said. "Gnarly!" Max said in a chipper voice. We went there, ordered our food and drinks and sat down to eat. "This food is totally tubular!" Max said, talking with her mouth full. I paused to chew my food and swallow it. "Yeah. Totally tubular!" I said. I sipped and swallowed my orange soda and said, "I'm very happy to go to shopping with you. I'm happy you're my best friend." I said softly. Max grinned and said, "I'm also happy you're my best friend, too." We decided to have a little fun and blew bubbles in our drinks. Then, we decided to have a burping contest. I burped quite loud. Max drunk her whole soda, burping a lot louder than me. "Wow, Max! Impressive!" I said as I chuckled a little. Max burped again, shouting "BEST SHOPPING TRIP EVER!" She shouted, but no one, except for me, heard her. We paid for our food and walked out of the mall. "That was fun!" I said. "Yeah, sure was." We went to get on Max's skateboard, but it was gone! "Dammit! Where's my skateboard?" Max said angrily. "Max, calm down." I said, comforting her. "Maybe someone stole it, but who?" I wondered. Max desperately searched inside the mall and the perimeter of the mall. Once she got back outside, she panicked and cried. I hugged her and told, "It's okay, we'll find your skateboard, Max."
