So if you've been in this fandom for a good amount of time you have for sure watched the last episode of season four at least three times. Well, as we all know in that episode Eddie dies but first epicly plays the song Master of puppets. We were in p.e. today when that song came on and so I walked over to my friend who loves stranger things and admitted that this hard rock song was making me depressed.

So my school every couple weeks has student bands (not marching bands) come out and play music during extended lunches n stuff. Next week is gonna be the first one of the year, but it always has to be “mainstream” music which the kids will know. So I asked the teacher if we could play Master of Puppets, using the best MUN skills I have to convince her that through Stranger Things, Master of Puppets is mainstream. She didn’t dig it, and we got denied the request because she decided it wasn’t mainstream, the lyrics were to suggestive, and wait for it . . . the song was too heavy. Yes . . . we got denied the request because it was too heavy. I’m so sad . . .

Everyone talks about Running Up That Hill and Master of Puppets. But I'm gonna test myself (and you should test yourself too) how many songs you ACTUALLY remember from the show. However here's the catch: ONLY comment the list of songs that you knew BEFORE Stranger Things. For example, I can't list Running Up That Hill because the first time I was introduced to it was through the show.

My ears have been horrifically blessed. D minor is the darkest/saddest/scariest key ever for a reason, so I downloaded the mp4 to Eddie's Master Of Puppets scene and just turned the pitch down a whole step so that his guitar would be in D standard tuning (the stock tuning for guitars is E standard). You guys have to do this I'm telling you. It's just unreal. The only weird part is that everyone's voice is pitched down too, but TBH, Eddie should've played it in D minor.
Sad but True uses D standard tuning, but it doesn't even have the same punch. Yeah . . . just use a transposer and take it down a whole step. It's just way better. I will never feel the same way about this scene.
Finished learning the solo today. Not the cleanest, but not bad for first try. FYI, when I recorded this, I had the track playing in a headset and then I just smashed the clips together and tried to fit it as best as a could, so there's a couple parts that are just fractions of a second off. I don't have a recording studio at my house (obviously), and recording with an iphone SE (yes a home button phone. WhOoAaH) goes only so far. That's the phone wasn't recording the track. I put it in over.

At school, we have bands that come out during lunch that play music for school assemblies, and I wanna see if we can do Master Of Puppets. It's gonna be a hell of a song to grind through since the rhythm is so demanding on the picking hand, but tbh, it's gonna be worth every single ounce of dedication. I asked my friends if we could order Hellfire club shirts and hopefully we can get those and just bring heavy metal to school.
Please don't bag on the tone. I didn't dial anything in so it sounds REALLY AWFUL and there's WAY TOO MUCH BASS. Moreover, the downpicking quality is really bad. I'm still trying to find the punch that James Hetfield has. I just started learning this today, and this level of endurance is nothing like I've ever experienced before. This is day 1, so Gaten would call it a work in progress. Oh and yes, I am left handed in case you are wondering, so no I can't get Eddie's BC Rich guitar even if you could still buy them, which I haven't checked but either way, can't play it.

Master of Puppets is 8 minutes and 34 seconds. That's like stupidly long, but I'd encourage anyone to just take 8 minutes and 34 seconds out of their day to listen to this because I always listen to the whole thing. But, because people have shortened attention spans, they had to make an edited version for the show, but they had to cut out the greatest bridge to ever be written? I'm not gonna get into the music theory behind why the arpeggios in the bridge make it absolutely inspiring, but man, it slaps.
The saddest part is that I asked 10 of my friends who watch Stranger Things, and I played them the Master Of Puppets bridge. How many knew the song was Master Of Puppets? Only one. Very disappointing and sad.
I remember actually sitting in the back of bio last year and my lab partner was like "What are you watching?" And I told him "the Master Of Puppets tab." He called it emo music, and I told him that this was gonna to be in Stranger Things just by the way Eddie's hands were moving in the trailer. On July 1st, he came to regret everything he said about me being a long-time Metallica fan.
