I have a theory about this. Firstly, we were not shown what happened to the Spider Monster after season 3. Most likely, his body was examined by the government led by Brenner and Owens. And we should also not forget about the part of the Mind Flayer that remained in the Spider Monster and, as we know, fragments of the Mind Flayer do not die after the gate is closed, but simply fall asleep. Secondly, from Vecna’s prophecy we know about a certain huge creature with an open mouth, but the Mind Flayer in his particle form has no trace of a mouth.And what if the Spider Monster came to life when the gate opened?

The mind flayer is a separate entity from Henry. henry is not born but people still have powers. heather is also in love with Billy. and when they get injected with the mind flayer they somehow get powers. billy then starts to teach Heather how to use her powers too. then when Heather is starting to get melted Billy steps in to tell the spider monster that she somehow got Telacanesis. surprised, the spider monster stops the melting prosses leaving her with melted parts of her body. then heather, Billy, and the spider monster go to the Starcort Mall to kill eleven. but this backfires on the spider monster when Billy is tricked by eleven to turn back to the light. the spider monster sensing elevens manipulations, stabs him in the sides, presumably killing Billy. the spider monster then makes a portal to the upside down. then the spider monster grabs Billy and Heather in the upside down. 8 months later Billy has turned into Vecna. targeting people with depressing pasts to open portals to this world. heather also helps Billy in killing his victims and gathering the Demogorgon and demo bat army.

Everyone remembers Billy and Alexei and even Heather, but I will always remember the Janets and the Mrs. Driscolls. They slay.
