The characters (Hopper and Joyce) in season 1 seem to have leapt to the conclusion that Terri Ives was the mother of Eleven. She was the individual who was mentioned in the newspaper articles that Hopper reviewed on microfiche.
However, from season 4, we know that there were a BUNCH of other number kids. And, (at least) Seven, Nine, Eleven and Thirteen were all Caucasian females in the approximate age range to be Terry Ives' daughter. In fact, watching season 4, it is noticeable that ,while the test subjects range in age from about 6 to around 18, there are a group of kids who are all roughly the same age, concentrated around Eleven's age, and that this group contains several white females.
Also, several years ago, Shawn Levy (one of the directors) remarked that Terry Ives still had a bombshell to drop. Since that remark was made, we have seen seasons 3 and 4 - Terry Ives did not appear in either season, and the "bombshell" (whatever it is) has not been dropped.
Obviously, the Duffer brothers plans might have changed and Terry might never be heard from in season 5 (and maybe whatever "bombshell" Shawn Levy was discussing will never be dropped).
However, assuming that Terry has some new important and shocking information to add - it would pretty much have to be something about the birth of her child.
Could it be that the characters were hasty in jumping to the conclusion that Eleven is Terry's child - and maybe Terry's child was another one of the test subjects (who died in the massacre at Hawkins' Lab).
What do you think?
