She only familiarized Eleven with her own philosophy, which was somehow also important for El's development. Only the explanation regarding Billy's “Happy Screams” wasn't really beneficial.
@XI8MOZ16 she literally took her to the mall, a place where pretty much everyone from all around Hawkins came to, when it was obviously extremely unsafe for her
Yes, that's true. But did it have dramatic consequences? There wasn't even any immediate danger nearby at the time. Who would have shown El how to experience the world differently, and what freedom means, if not Max?
@XI8MOZ16 El could’ve learned about freedom and all that once her own safety was ensured. What do you think should be prioritized, her safety or learning about freedom?
From her perspective, the question is more difficult to answer than you might think. And Max seems to see it that way too. And Hoppers care for her seemed a little exaggerated to me that season. Something could have happened, but it didn't. Of course, I can't assess how important it is for other people to have their own experiences. It's always been very important to me to gain personal experience. And it's a typical phenomenon to project their personal needs onto fictional characters, so let me outline it very roughly: El couldn't have become so strong if she hadn't also had social experiences. Even her first real experience, apart from her father, the one with the Demogorgon, have noticeably strengthened her powers, even if it was a terrifying experience.
Yes, I agree El should have had social experience WHEN THE TIME CAME. Again, I think her personal safety is more important, but once there wasn’t a safety threat anymore, she could have gone to the mall as much as she wanted to!
That's true, but would it still have been an authentic and exciting experience if she had only gone when she was allowed to? After all, there was a certain thrill in simply running away and playing “Material Girl”. An all too common behavior, it wasn't necessarily responsible either, so at least it was authentic.
@XI8MOZ16 yeah I suppose that’s true, it was an authentic experience
Dustin and Human Torch lol.
What do you think?
