The only one that I’ve seen is Stand By Me, and although it was an amazing movie, I’m not sure if it’s really an inspiration to Stranger Things. To me, they’re extremely different.

Yeah --
They both have a group of misfit kids looking for a missing kid.
They are both set in the 80s.
There is an implied romance between the leader and the gay kid.
Just to name a few similarities...
@AlienDutch5 oh yeah that’s true! I never thought about it that way.
But are you sure Gordie had a crush on Chris? I remember he was gay but I’m not remembering him having feelings for Chris.
@BobNewby78 Maybe in the movie. It was definitely implied in the book.
@AlienDutch5 oh interesting. I didn’t even know there was a book but now I wanna read it 🙂
@BobNewby78 The book is called "The Body". It's actually the inspiration for the title of the fourth episode of season 1.
The only one I saw on the list is Close Encounters of the Third Kind
I would've said E. T., maybe even WarGames, but here, I gotta go with The Goonies!
@Whitehorse24 yeah I feel like ET should definitely be here
@Whitehorse24 ET's my favorite movie of all time.
What do you think?
