Every character has flaws, if they don't, they aren't believable
Will has flaws, and yes, Mike has bigger flaws, but not enough for me to understand why you people hate on him.
@Durga1239 he lied to El about his nanna being sick, and he was a very bad influence on her. He completely shut down Will in season 3. And I don’t think he was excused in punching Hopper. Hopper has been protecting El from HNL. If it wasn’t for him, she may have been back at the lab, captured.
He lied to Eleven because Hopper violently forced him to not meet with Eleven 💀 What do you expect, him going against Hopper's words? You think Hopper would be happy if he told El that Hopper told him to stay away from her?
He had a girlfriend and Will couldn't respect that, it's not Mike's fault, it's Will's.
Um, no. Hopper told Mike to stay away from El because they were making out. Hopper forbade El from going outside because of HNL but he forced Mike to stop seeing her because they were making out.
@Durga1239 it makes sense that Hopper wanted Mike to stop seeing El because El would spend all her time with Mike, so he felt that he was a bad influence on her. Also, he doesn’t like that they were making out so much.
And yes, hopper was protecting el from hnl, which is why he hid her inside his cabin.
Will was not disrespecting Mike having a girlfriend, it’s just that Mike would stop spending quality time with Will, and instead spend all his time making out with El.
@BobNewby78 Sure, Hopper can want to spend more time with his daughter - but that doesn't make Mike a bad person for spending time with Eleven. And I take it that you agree that Hopper refusing to let Mike meet with El has nothing to do with HNL now? Also, Will was disrespecting him and El, he literally called El stupid. And it's Mike's decision who he wants to spend time with, not Will's. Making out doesn't make a person bad lol.
@Durga1239 1. it wasn't just that mike was spending time with El. It's that El started spending all her time making out with Mike, and Mike was spending all his time making out with El.
2. Yes, Hopper refusing to let Mike meet with El DID have to do with HNL. Hopper wanted to hide El in his cabin, and not tell anyone about her because he didn't want HNL to find out and capture El again.
3. Will did not disrespect El. He was just annoyed that Mike stopped hanging out with him, and instead spent all his time making out with El, as he should be. If my best friend suddenly stopped hanging out with me and instead spent all his time making out with his gf, I would be annoyed too.
Again, doesn't make him a bad person.
Um, I think you should rewatch. He let Mike meet El after season 2 because he trusted him. He refused to let him visit El in season 3 for the sole purpose of them not meeting, but yes in season 2 he didn't let them meet because of HNL. But we're talking about season 3, right?
Yes he did disrespect El, he ltierally called her stupid. That's called disrespect. And even if Will's annoyed, that doesn't make Mike a bad person.

2. no, I’m talking about season 2 because that’s when Mike assaulted Hopper after finding out that he’s been protecting Eleven.
3. He called El stupid because he felt like she was taking away all his quality time with Mike, so he was upset. I think that’s fairly reasonable. But anyway, I’m not trying to defend Will, I’m just trying to understand why Mike is a bad character.

Oh okay I thought you were talking about season 3. Okay so about that it's because Mike was really emotional, plus he didn't really hurt Hopper. He was just mad and then he calmed down. I don't think that that's really a good reason to hate on him...
Okay... so he disrespected her, even if it's "reasonable" when it's really not but you do you I guess.
@Durga1239 2. It doesn’t matter that he didn’t seriously injure Hopper. The principle of Mike punching him when he did nothing wrong is just bad, whether or not Hopper was badly injured. Hopper did a great thing. Mike should be thanking him for protecting El, not punching him.
3. I’m not saying Will is a good character, I’m just saying that Mike is a bad character
