It's not bad, imo-it just tore itself away from the usual template of the rest of ST episodes, which I think left most audiences, including me when I first watched it, unable to cope with it. We don't see anything that happens in the other storylines, we just get a whole, individual episode focused on El and Kali. Rewatching the episode last year, I didn't find it as horrible as the fandom really claims it is. Its plot was good enough and Kali was interesting character to me, and even though letting El channel her anger to increase her power wasn't exactly healthy, she did give El some character growth. It was a nice turning point in S2 and it wasn't like anything we've ever seen in ST before, so I'd say it's a pretty decent episode-and maybe even better.
