Before anyone goes on and attacks me lol-I just want to say how much I empathize him more than I sympathize with him. He was a pretty innocent boy at first, it was mostly his family issues that shifted him into what he was in S2 and S3. Idk but I think family issues can shift a person completely-we see in S4 how Billy and the state of her own family affects Max, causing her to live in depression for a long period of time. Billy suffered abuse from Neil-but unlike Max, the abuse did not cause depression-it simply caused him to be like his father-a complete copy of him.
I hate Billy as much as the next person, but I can't help but feel sorry for him as well. Out of all people, he should know best what abuse can do to people-but yet he continued to make Max's life miserable. If his mother had taken him with her when she left, maybe he would've been a better person. A good person.

I still feel like I'll be attacked for this so let me state this more clearly-I hate him, he severely upset Max, practically caused her depression, was abusive, was a total mess-that does not clash with the empathy I have for him. Everyone starts out good, it's hard to believe anyone starts out bad. But what he did, ofc, is unforgivable and unrelated to what he's been through-like I said-Out of all people, he should know best what abuse can do to people-but yet he continued to make Max's life miserable.
