^ Personally, I think all his self-blame is what made it sadder and like you said, it was depressing. It was heartbreaking to see him blame himself for things happening, when he’s literally been a hero since S1-saving Will twice, basically willing to sacrifice himself to save Hawkins-and the world. It was definitely sadder than his letter to me, because in his letter everything is more soothing and caring-as it’s addressed to El-but really, seeing him away from all his loved ones and seeing how he blamed himself for so many things-it was really sad.
