Greetings, Strangers!
For the past few months, many of you have been requesting an off-topic thread for our wiki. Off-topic threads are a great place to connect with other users without the pressure of staying on-topic and sticking to Stranger Things. They have been known to be successful on certain wikis, but have also led to inappropriate and out-of-control behavior on others, which is why we have hesitated to begin our own.
We know this is a popular request, though, so we’ve decided that we would do a test run of an off-topic thread, and see how it goes. We will keep it open for a month, close it at the end, and then re-evaluate before beginning a new one. If all goes well, you’ll have successfully petitioned for an off-topic thread on the Stranger Things Wiki – if it spirals out of control, it will have been well worth the try. The outcome is in your hands!
Before you dive into conversation, we need to establish some rules to ensure this goes as smoothly as possible:
No sharing of personal information that could reveal someone’s identity. This includes full names of both yourself or your family/significant other, face reveals, one’s location (such as city), one’s school, phone numbers, credit card numbers, passwords, or other social media, such as Instagram or Snapchat. It is also advised for you not to share your age, though this will not be a requirement on this thread – it is just basic internet safety if you’re under 18.
Be polite and respectful of each other. Fights that spiral out of control can and will get this thread locked.
Keep the conversation appropriate and PG. If it wouldn’t be acceptable on the main d-board, it won’t be acceptable here.
No politics or religion. As interesting as these are, disagreements over them can get nasty, and lead to the breaking of rule #2.
Please also note that off-topic conversation is still not allowed anywhere else on the d-board – that is what this thread is for. And as always, our discussion guidelines apply here, just as they do for the rest of the d-board (save for the off-topic rule, of course).
That’s it! Have fun!
