Jason was actually a pretty good person. He obviously did love Chrissy, and cared about everyone in Hawkins. The only reason he didn’t like Eddie was because he was taught to, since he was the town freak, and being obviously a very religious person, he didn’t like the way Eddie behaved. Once Chrissy died, he was convinced Eddie killed her(which isn’t surprising. All the signs point to him), and set out to avenge his girlfriend and get rid of Eddie so no one else would have to die.
