Yes, Jason shouldn’t be blamed since stepping on the walkman was an accident and he didn’t know that Max needed music to save her. But I disagree about the second part, we don’t know that Lucas would be too slow, he could still have quickly grabbed the walkman and put it on Max. What was Jason’s fault was that he held Lucas at gunpoint and told him to empty his pockets, which made the walkman fall out.

I agree, Vecna would have gotten to Max either way . To its like the same hate Star Lord gets from Avengers Infinity War. The where he yells at Thanos about what happened to Gamora and then that gives Thanos the chance to steal the stone teleport back to Earth.
