Eh I disagree. Jason and Steve have no reason to hate each other. Jason wasn't a bully or racist unlike Billy, so I don't think he'd have much problems with Steve. But that's just me.

For context, this is before Chrissy got murdered and everything went to Hell. What Jason did to Garett and the others has NOTHING to do with how he would interact with Steve, who ALSO hated Eddie. He only did that to Garett because he thought he was hiding a murderer. He has no need of conflict with Steve.
