Well she wasn't present to hear Dustin and Suzie sing it, so it's not particularly tied to that memory and therefore not as triggering, but yes we do see in the monologue that Max kept up a lively spirit amongst her friends, but in the montage her personal isolation was presented when she returned home, conveying both her trauma and loneliness, and that it will be explored next season based on Hopper's speech.
