So, Hoppers daughter, did she become a victim of the upside down, after passing away, and the Demi gorgon. My dad and I were discussing it and in season 1 episode 8 when Hopper and Joyce are in the upside down and come across ‘Castle Byers’, they find a tiger teddy that sinks into the image of her and Hopper in the hospital. Also when she is playing in the park and begins to struggle to breath she is spooked by something and at the time Hopper is mentioning trolls and (before the days of Hawkins lab) the upside down would still have existed, despite not being open. So, it’s just a theory but maybe, she is somehow connected with the context and the originals of the upside down. Like some fan theories about billy, maybe she is duplicated in the upside down and will make some sort of an appearance in season four, when it finally comes out.
If you look at the last episode of season 1, there is a scene of Hopper sobbing on a stairwell in the hospital where Sarah died.
In season 2, look at the episode "the Mind Flayer" -- you see several shots of demogorgons and/or Bob on the stairwell in the lab. In the next episode "The Gate", you see Dr. Owens on a stairwell in the lab.
It looks like the SAME stairwell.
So, did they simply economize while filming and think no one would notice, or was that is a subtle hint ???
Plus, David Harbour has said that there will be a major backstory reveal for Hopper in season 4.....
That's how someone reacts when they are struggling to breath, they panic and look around for anykind of help. The Duffers have a thing for big cats, the High School mascot is a tiger aswell, also it's a common toy. Hopper moved back to Hawkins in 1979, after Sara passed away. His family was living in New York. It's not the same stairwell. Owen's one has a corner wall, different colour paint, larger floor space and designs, and the railing is slightly different at the bottom of the post. Also if Hopper had a backstory with the lab, he would immediately suspect their involvement with Sara once he started investigating them and uncovered Eleven's room.
You actually see the stairwell 5 times -- here is all my evidence that it is the same:
Season 1 episode 8 -- at about 18:32 - this is Hopper sobbing on the stairwell. there is no door. the steps are reddish brown with some sort of texture. The floor on the landing has square tiles.
Season 2, episode 8 at 13:56- Bob goes to the basement. You cannot see the steps clearly but there is no door on the landing that Bob passes. The handrail appears to be the same.
Season 2, episode 8 at 16;56 -- You see the steps - there is no door on the landing. the rail appears to be the same. The steps are dark colored and have texture of some sort. The landing appears to be tile, but this is hard to see.
Season 2, episode 8 at 17:26 - the hand rail appears to be the same, the color of the steps appears to be the same dark reddish hue, We get a glimpse of a landing -no door.
Season 2, episode 9 - an extended sequence starting at about 28:30.
At 28:31 we glimpse the steps and the hand rail - the steps have the same dark red and the hand rail appears to be the same.
At 28:36, as Hopper goes around the corner he says "oh, s---t", it appears he is turning the corner on a landing - there does not appear to be a door behind him.
At 28:39-- we see El standing on a landing - we see no door behind her...
But we do see a door by Owen, who is lying on a landing.
Conclusion: most stairwells do not have a door at every landing -- usually they alternate between door/no door on landings. I believe that the stairwell in the hospital and the stairwell in the lab are the same. What is unresolved is whether (a) they used the same stairwell for convenience in filming and thought no one would notice, or (b) it was intended as a clue of some sort - that Hopper was at the lab before...
