Actually no, I wouldn't. While in theory, it would have been a fun era to live in, women had fewer rights back then and weren't respected as much (Nancy gets a taste of this in S3). Since that era, we've come so far in our push for equality, and I wouldn't want to go back to a time when my employer could legally deny me health insurance during maternity leave, I couldn't attend an Ivy League school if I wanted to, and I couldn't serve in all available combat roles in the military. None of those things currently apply to me, but they're something to think about when we talk about living in previous eras.

As mentioned by others, it wasn't progressive in terms of reform, but culturally yes. I would be tempted to use my knowledge of the "future" to become moderately wealthy, but I would share that success and profit and live a modest life. So something like starting a early version of Netflix but for tv (not like cable) or getting in on the ground floor of some technological innovation. I would use my moderate status and connections to create awareness about future problems like climate change, the need to shift to renewable resources, and social issues of all kind. On an even larger scale I would warn against upcoming natural disasters and attempt to prevent man made ones like famine and war. I'd even attempt to gain some political influence so as to make sure the ballot count was counted correctly in Florida for the 2000 US President Election, since Al Gore should have won. Just a few minor changes *wink wink*
