I think it’s a great show to watch and is appropriate I watched it when I was 9 and my parents did not have a issue with it it’s about friendships and how working together can solve a lot there isn’t a lot of bad stuff in it aside from the slight violence but if she is 12 then there is nothing wrong with it

I watched it when I think I just turned 11. It's completely appropriate for 12 year olds, it really isn't too scary for that age, and yeah it has curse words, but like please can we be honest 12 year olds curse a lot and I know I did XD. As for like sexual content there is literally nothing a 12yo wouldn't be fine with. It's really appropriate for that age and I know people who watched it as young as the age of 6 (I'm not saying she should have loll) so yeah

It's generally ok. Of course, the Billy/Karen and Steve/Nancy bits have a bit of sex, if that's a problem, but not bad.

As long as you can handle some gore and profanity and sexual content, I think you could enjoy the show.

Honestly, it's up to the parent to decide what is appropriate for their kid. I know that's not the answer you were looking for, but what may count as appropriate for one family may be entirely inappropriate for another. Some people care about cuss words, others care about sexual implications, and for others, it's about how creepy or violent it is. I know one family who won't let their 12-year-old watch anything but animated stuff (which I think is a little extreme). But hey, it really comes down to the family and what the parents are comfortable with!

It’s relatively safe for 12 year olds. The whole show is basically a coming-of-age series so it’s basically made for viewers 12-14. It also shows a lot about the 80s and how kids used to live back then which can help kids to appreciate what they have now. It also sends good messages about friendship, family, and other things. If her parents are worried about the horror of it all, it’s pretty much ok for that age. If not, you can still watch it through your fingers. If it gets too bad, you’re mature enough to know when to skip a scene or something.

I’d say that it’s pretty much appropriate for any age. Sure, there is some cursing and a little bit of violence, but overall it is a very interesting show with a fantastic plot and great humor.

It’s not actually scary just a really, really good story

It's rated TV-14, which is basically MA. So this is just me but I'd advise parental guidance for anyone under that age, not just for the moments that are violent and graphic, but also for some of the dialogue, eg. episode one contains a homophobic slur and without proper context a younger audience member may not understand why it's being used. The cussing is fine, there is one f-bomb in the entire series so far.

But yeah the violence, blood, gore and even the more supernatural/psychological horror, are present from season 1 and it only increases as the seasons progress. There's also stuff like Mike jumping off a cliff, amongst a number of other examples where the young protagonists endanger themselves and experience trauma.

While I know most young adults would not seek to copy that kind of behaviour in real life, having an adult present to explain why Mike or the other characters would do such a thing and act in ways because of trauma they've experienced, eg. Will's paranoia that he's going crazy in season 2 and his destruction of Castle Byer's in season 3, is reasonable.

My dad wouldn't let me watch stranger things until 3 weeks ago, and I'm 13, it's pretty fine, apart from the 1 Steve and Nancy scene
