Actor shippers shall be smited where they stand.

I know I am going to sound extremely stupid here, since I am supposed to know this, but what exactly is a ship? Worship? Relationship? I’m gathering that it means some type of pairing of two people, but I’m a little confused with the context of which it is always posted in here. Could someone clarify? Thanks lol.
