I was secretely hoping she'd give Jonathan a real chance, but maybe they're keeping that in reserve for future seasons ;) I hated Steve at first, but I guess he could redeem himself. I like Jonathan better, but it doesn't seem so unrealistic for her to stick with the mainstream pretty boy for now.
I actually liked that the season ended that way. It leaves room for season 2. And, Steve did redeem himself (mostly), and we want to like him more. BUT OF COURSE we are left wanting her to get together with Jonathan. fingers crossed.
I honestly hope she chooses Jonathan in the long run. He was consistently a nice guy, while Steve was just a bully. I personally don't believe Steve redeeming himself is a good enough reason for Jonathan to be left aside. /:
I'm really glad she didn't go with Jonathan, as that would be completely unrealistic. Steve really stands up for Nancy and consistently shows that he really cares about her, she's liked him since forever and just lost her virginity to him a week ago. She's known Jonathan for a few days, and their connection is based on searching for their brother and friend. So why would she go for him? Because he's the "nice outsider" stereotype who isn't really all that nice if you look deeper than the cliché? Meh.
Anyone saying Steve is a douchebag and bully really need to pay closer attention. The show sets it up so he almost falls into the "douchebag" stereotype again and again, but guess what? He doesn't. He does the decent thing every time, and the few times he screws up (which are completely reasonable), he does some very brave things to right his wrongs.
Don't get me wrong, I totally get the appeal of Nancy+Jonathan, but it would just be wrong at this point. I can see it happening down the road. Nancy and Steve are too boring to be a long-term thing anyways.
I don't think Nancy has really made up her mind yet, it's a kind of love triangle. She'll stay with Steve for a time to test the waters but she may still go back with Jonathon later on. All I'll say is may the best man win.
